Running For The Board; I REALLY need your help

Good luck Brett, you've got my vote and will encourage others to support your candidacy.

I briefly spoke to you in passing at the last AGM, I think to congratulate and thank you for asking your question so articulately. I knew you were writing here because we both posted in the AGM thread after the event, but I didn't know anything about you beyond that you were smart, articulate and asked the right questions. Your posts here and on the Black and White Noise blog underline that.

I really hope we can get somewhere on the member elect board positions because I feel that this is crucial to the club retaining its identity into the future and not becoming another soulless franchise. I was chatting to El_Scorcho the other day and he made the comment that the fans are the club and that the oral history we pass down to our kids is so important so that they know who we are and what we stand for. I feel that it is important that these messages also come from the club itself, which is why it is so key that the club is authentic, clear, and passionate about who we are and what we stand for. The last decade has shown us that the Hinkley/Koch view of the club ("finals are scary", "I hate Showdowns", "I want Port Adelaide to be everyone's second club") is not conducive to ruthless winning; we can't play scared, we can't be afraid to fail, we have to be ruthless in our pursuit of glory. When the club is on record as saying that not winning the premiership is a failed season (and actually believes it), rather than having to coddle players and coaches, then we're on the right track. There can be honour in defeat, but honourable defeats of our club and jumper have been few and far between since 2015.

I think the board and administration, particularly during the last decade, has been very insular and allergic to criticism and accountability. The response to the question I asked at the last AGM around accountability over the Chasing Greatness 3 premierships in 5 years goal was disappointing and disheartening. I hope that if you are successful in being elected that you are able to communicate to the board and administration that honesty with, and accountability to, the members is of vital importance to rebuild the broken trust that has strained so many of our relationships with the most recent iteration of the club.

Thanks mate.

I think I showed at the AGM that I am prepared to speak honestly (and respectfully) and that I won't accept fluffy or false answers. I will come with facts and expect honest replies in return.

StrappingTape if it is something you feel strongly about, you can actually nominate yourself at the next member election.
I don't think you can make any change there unless the board make up is changed and you can't get that change being a member and bound by the charter. I think unfortunately it will take a concerted campaign by both SA club members together to put both of them under pressure to relent.

Ideally we need the Crows board to give them lip service with one or two extra board members when they get to their "member control" next year? Then you might finally get the buy in from their side that they will never get what they want unless they push for change too. Much like dragging them to Adelaide Oval.

As for the other stuff it goes hand in hand with the corporate switch of the club,. The club shouldn't be making any statements on issues that it has no business getting involved in but it continuously does and each time it's taking a piece of what we used to be about away. All the members are what makes up our club and it's identity. We became strong and successful by everyone accepting others even if they have a different view on topics because supporting Port is what bound us together, everyone was equal. It didn't matter what you did or how rich you were, everyone was on a equal footing down there on the one team. Without member control we won't get that back and once it's completely gone, it's gone for good.

Thanks mate.

Is this like a pay for policy candidacy?:winkv1:

Hey, maybe you can suggest we concentrate on things like football and winning premierships rather than this shit?

C'mon mate, how can we be everyone's second club if we don't make the community proud?

Maybe you could point out that obvious point to the board/club once you are on. Why are we constantly taking positions on things that the club has no business doing, all it achieves is antagonising members needlessly.

I hope you do well and accountability starts with a member elected board otherwise we continue on like we do. Getting on is one thing, being listened to once you are there when your against a stacked deck is a massive battle to get anywhere.

Don't forget to sort out the buses too

If Brett can finally sort out the Ports cap debacle, I'll vote for him as many times as I can wangle.

Congratulations ET on your nomination, would be great to have you on the board.

2 questions for you -

Do you sun your gooch in the morning or afternoon?

What is your take on the moon landing - real or fake?

These issues are very close to my heart. Answer correctly and you have my vote 👍

I don't think so. These members aren't a legal member of the PAFC Ltd. These members are a legal member of the AFL Ltd, but under an arrangement, if you tick a club support box, the AFL transfer about $150 per adult member to Port and that person is counted as a Port member in the club's total audited by the AFL.

If you have been an AFL member for several years and never got an email from CorpVote for previous elections to vote, then that's confirmation you don't have voting rights.

This is from the club re the last election in December 2024 when George Fiacchi beat Rob Snowdon.

Who is eligible to vote?

To be eligible to vote, you must have been a financial member of the Port Adelaide Football Club as of 31st October 2024. Therefore, 2024 members or members who renewed or joined for 2025 prior to the 31st of October 2024 and be over the age of 18 are eligible.

This is the 2024 Annual General Meeting and Director election. Members who join after the 31st of October 2024 are not entitled to vote in this election.

Members who have not supplied their date of birth will also be excluded as the age cannot be verified. To update your details, please contact Member Services on (08) 8447 9900 or email membership@pafc.com.au.
Enviable Tradition GremioPower AFL port-nominated members are eligible:

Hey guys.

I did an interview on TheCreed podcast where you can find out a bit more about me and my campaign and reminisce about old days at Alberton.

Check it out.

Listened to the interview on my drive home from work tonight.
Safe to say you’ve secured the Dubai vote!!
Particularly liked the comments about being from outside “the bubble”.

FYI for anyone wondering.

To be eligible to vote in this upcoming board election members must be over 18 and a financial 2025 member as of the 31st of October.

2025 Power on Demand members are also eligible to vote.

FYI the digital membership is actually cheaper than standard Kayo so if you have Kayo and not a membership do yourself and the club a favour.

Pity a lot of people that were tired of the regime are no longer members. I'd buy a membership to vote for you but seems it wont buy me a vote. I can understand why there is an eligibility cut off but I also think it stinks and is somewhat anti-democratic.

As much as I would have taken all the votes I could get, I think that the cut off is entirely appropriate to avoid vote stacking.

All my mates with Kayo (who aren't even Port supporters) were willing to get a digital membership at Port for the cheaper Kayo and to vote.

How did the regime vote stack for Abernathy last time around?

I don't have any knowledge or evidence of vote stacking.

I certainly think that if influential board members have a preference there would be a lot of people asking them their preference before voting, including the clubs media team and local media.

I would certainly be curious to know how Channel 7 were confident enough to announce Jonas reportedly nominating.

The thought of Tom Jonas on a board that holds power over Bitcho and the contract of Josh Carr makes me giggle
