I take offense at the lack of knowledge being shown on this thread; being very good at one aspect of the game, especially one that doesnt involve getting the ball and doing something with it, doesnt make him a 'champ' or a 'gun' as has been claimed in this thread.

Lack of knowledge lol

People have really twisted views, he wasn't good at all, he had numerous bad kicks, couldn't do anything with the ball. He's a bit player, he's so far from a "star" it's not funny

Careful with the words you use, he did his job, nothing more, nothing less. He will never win games of football, he did his job against Selwood last time they met and they got thrashed, it's so much more to do with the way the team plays than it will ever be about Crowley stopping one person.

You have a bitter and twisted view by the sounds,NFI............he is the #1 tagger in the AFL bar none ,does his job beautifully and within the rules

Can you address me as if you were an adult?

Show some respect to an elite poster.

Self-proclaimed "elite"? At least Crowley lets others come up with the platitudes, however undeserving they might be in your opinion.

Crowley is an elite tagger, but a very, very limited footballer.

That's scrub talk. In a competitive environment, there is only one factor that's important, what gives you the most chance for success. Your concieved notions of what a footballer is, are not based on important values. Crowley has massive influence on every game we play, destroying the most damaging players of the opposition. This makes him a fantastic footballer by the only measure that matters.

Like the bump, taggers should be rubbed out of the game for good.

One of the most underrated players at the moment i think

Apparently Crowley was asking what it felt like to kick a football properly.

I'm sure most of his opponents forget by the end of their game.

Crowley is a dead set dick head. he might be good at stopping other players, and I don't care if he gets the footy himself as he's doing whats asked of him.

but he is a flog of the highest order.

I don't care if he wants to scrag, hold, pinch and annoy the hell out of his opponent. but don't expect everyone to think you're awesome after the game and be all buddy buddy.

I don't care if he wants to get into peoples faces and put them off their game. but don't then turn around and cry to the umpire when they retaliate. don't throw your head back every time you get near the ball because you cant handle the prospect of someone squaring up. and don't take a dive like you've been shot whenever you feel contact.

The guy is a blight on the game.

Good tagger though.

I would take a number of taggers over Crowley

Daniel Jackson and Kane Cornes for a start, they can actually play football when required, they can hit targets, win their own ball, damage 2 ways. Crowley is 1 dimensional in every aspect. He can't kick, chooses poor options and today didn't handle the ball well at all. He can take a mark though but it's not enough to call him the best tagger.

Would you call him a star?

He doesn't need to be good offensively, his job is to blanket the oppositions best midfielder and he does that better than anyone else in the game right now.
There are players that do both, they are better players. It's simple really. Having a basic job description doesn't enhance your abilities or your reputation. It's more an acknowledgement of a limited player.

Yep, Jackson has taken his game to a new level, does a great job shutting an opponent down but is also learning to be attacking, has kicked some brilliant goals this year, and is also a decent mid in his own right.
