If we have nominated him to be selected with a rookie pick, I believe that any other club that wants him has to confirm which ND pick they will use to take him with before draft day. Then we have to commit to use our pick immediately after the selection the other club nominates, if we still want him with that selection. For example - If Melbourne said they would use their second round selection (pick 20) to take him, we have to commit to take him with our second round pick if we were prepared to do so, otherwise he is locked in to Melbourne for pick 20 before the draft. It is why Joe Daniher went with the Bombers first round selection last year as other clubs said they would use their first round selection to take him.

Ah. thanks for that. I wondered how it worked. In reality we could safely say he is ours then. Kinda fortunate he agreed to come to Freo father and son seeing as he hates us so much.

As I get it he doesn't actually have to agree to come to us, just say that he is happy for us to list him as a F/S potential pick... The final outcome depends a lot on which picks we have, who else is interested in him, and (to an extent) what conditions we or any other club put on our offers to him...

Yeah it would be interesting to see if we would agree to pick him up with any pick that wasn't a rookie pick. So it's not that definite then really. Good point.

He's very much a similar recruit to Duffy. Ross obviously wants more tall, goal scoring forwards on the list.
That's what I thought of too Yakka. The rumour was that Duffy was RTB's call and L-S seems to have identical assets right down to long torso short legs.RTB is either entirely off his dial or he reckons his ideal forward line needs more goalkicking electric manic and Duffy is beginning to be a worry.

laugh out LOL
Ryan is Neil's son.
huuuuuge west coast yuppies fan.
hates Freo.
saw a pic of him wearing Hawks gear 4 the GF
but did say that he would play anywhere when I once asked him what would happen if he got drafted by Freo.
despite being a canaries boy, is actually a decent fella

So was rhys palmer - played a binder in his first derby 2008- it was away game

Just can't warm to this - probably the east freo lester-smith connection. I guess as a rookie it would work but anything more would be overpaying. Maybe I am just bias.......

Yes , I think so. Whats wrong with the EF connection? :)

About time we put the pressure on the WC supporting EF /SF ex players to show them what band-wagoners they are. :thumbsu:

WTF? Why would you have an issue with an EF Lester-Smith 'connection'? Both champions from the most successful club in Western Australia.

I support West Perth and endured a childhood of unhappy memories mainly at the hands of east freo and the likes of Lester-smith, Peake etc. This kid can play a bit but given my aforementioned sentence and my insatiable appetite for a kpf (195+cm and 95-100kgs) I am not overly enthused.

Funnily enough , I have many happy memories of those times. :rainbow:

But what it does mean to RLS is that he now knows he is going to be drafted, at the least as a rookie. One in the hand is better than two in the bush.
He is going to be at an AFL club next year.

So the plan is to keep him on the rookie list for a year, then trade him for Saints pick 1?

Cost nothing - maybe get a 3rd rounder out of someone, may not be across how the F/S pre listing works, but pretty sure can trade for picks.
