Yep most likely, but thats what most pies fans would of been saying about Leigh Brown this time last year.
I can't vouch for other Carlton fans, but I'd rather see the progress of someone like Murphy for a year in the reserves than watching Thornton and o'hAilpin continue to rot.
his nickname is spud..........very apt
good wafl player doesnt cut it with the big boys
would be very surprized if Carlton went anywhere near him
I always enjoy the 'Let's take a kid,' argument. Any 'kid' in particular so we can discuss their relative strengths and weaknesses? No? So we should just take the 90th best under 18, based purely on the fact that they're young regardless of the depth of the draft, their abilities, their upside or our immediate needs... Great.
I had exactly the same thought. I think it is known as the Sean Charles rule (or for us older dudes, the Stephen Easton rule).

Don't really rate him, BUT:
Ryan Murphy > Gary Glitter > Brett Thornton > Setanta o'hAilpin
If we pick Murphy up in the pre-season draft, we can offload another list clogger.
Thornton and o'hAilpin won't be there at the end of 2011.
Mite as well speed up the process and get rid of one this year, and give a younger bloke in Murphy a go.
So cash and a wasted spot on a list isn't a factor? For me he lacks intensity. however if he costs us nothing apart from cash we arent going to get burnt from drafting him late in the draft or in the PSD.
Probably wouldn't bother. He is a decent kick for goal but comes across as a bit of a pea heart and for some reason showed just enough to clog the Freo list for a few years.
Don't shoot me but would Neagle be a better option?
Personally, I'm not against Neagle - if not just to turn him into a semi-decent player and rub it into the Bombers! If Neagle even parked his car at Visy I'd drink petrol.

I would not be surprised given it was our current recruiter Wane Hughes who drafted him for Freo at pick 12. Must have seen something in him.
