Saddington joins young onballer Marc Murphy (shoulder) as Carlton players sidelined for the rest of the season.
Plus Longmuir and Davies so Journos have a pretty tough job in getting their facts right! ;)

Should he retire?

Or should we give him one more year to prove himself given the breakdown and age of our list?

Will be 27 at the start of next season, a time when players are generally playing their best football. Was coming off a knee reco so it was to be expected it would take time to get him up and running. Hopefully by getting the surgery done now it will give him the opportunity to have a full pre-season. I still think he has something to offer as a 3rd or 4th defensive option. His experience could prove invaluable to Bower, Thornton, Hansen?? and Edwards.

Saddington has plenty of time to recover and be right for next year. When we picked him up I started watching old Swans games on foxfooty to get an idea of what he is all about and was very impressed. He brang the knee problem into the season, this is why he looked no good in the handfull of games he played for us .Im very confident with full fitness and a strong pre-season he will be just what the Doctor ordered.Very mobile for a 194cm,spoils good, gives drive out of defence, very strong overhead mark and can hit a target. Can also play forward if need be.A big fan I am.

All of these LTIs and no rookie elevations. You would think that at the least Smith would get a look in as he can't be rookied next year unless we delist him first and then re-rookie him IIRC.

bad luck to the guy-hope he can come back next year fit and ready to contribute to the team.

Coming back from a knee injury is difficult, and he's obviously still feeling the effects.

This opens yet another opportunity for a rookie listed player to be elevated onto the senior list-hopefully the club takes this, as well as the other opportunities it has been presented with, with both hands. Looking to see 2 or 3 rookies elevated and given an opportunity to show us what they've got before the end of the year.

He is contracted until the end of 2007, but you'd have to think that he'd consider retiring.

In the last four years Saddo has played 14, 10, 7 & 6 games respectively. Not a good trend!

The writing is also on the wall that the likes of Hartlett, Bower and potentially Hansen or Gumbleton will most likely be given first crack at senior selection next year. Will Saddo be happy playing at the Bullants most of next season?

i sympathies for him but unfortuantely i don't rate him at all. even when he played for us this year he was slow and soft and he had the turning circle of a semi-trailer.

i would be hoping he retired.
