I have no inside knowledge, and have seen only little of a few of these guys but I wanted to have my say anyway - let's hear yours...

I ranked the draftees in somewhat of the order I think they will go in, then tried to address what I thought were the needs of the club at that pick if they had already had a pick - otherwise it was something like best available. I can say too that the guy I selected for the St Kilda pick, Daniel Menzel, - I'd never seen him play - but he was the next highest ranked player on my list...

Re: Phantom Drafts

Ima win $2000 mumma. :)

1 Melbourne - Tom Scully
2 Melbourne - Jack Trengove
3 Richmond - Dustin Martin
4 Fremantle - Anthony Morabito
5 North Melbourne - Ben Cunnington
6 Sydney - Gary Rohan
7 West Coast - Lewis Jetta
8 Port Adelaide - John Butcher
9 Port Adelaide - Jake Melksham
10 Essendon - Kane Lucas
11 Melbourne - Daniel Talia
12 Carlton - Aaron Black
13 Adelaide - Jasper McMillan-Pittard
14 Sydney - Koby Stevens
15 Western Bulldogs - Jake Carlisle
16 Port Adelaide - Luke Tapscott
17 Geelong - Brad Sheppard/Callum Bartlett/Nathan Vardy

I haven't gone further than that, might do a 2nd round later. Fairly stock standard, nothing shocking.

Did anyone read about McMillan-Pittard in the Age today? Smart boy.

The Falcons lost their preliminary final and McMillan-Pittard's AFL team - St Kilda - was beaten by Geelong the following week. Ross Lyon asked the teenager, in his interview with the Saints, what he would have done to ensure a better result. This time, he didn't want to say too much.

''It was the week after the game and I don't think you should tell a coach what he should have done,'' he smiled.

''All I said was, 'I thought St Kilda lost it rather than Geelong winning it, but I don't need to tell you that!' He said he'd watched it a number of times already and I just thought: how could you go through that? I was in mourning. I was too busy trying to wipe it out of my memory.''

Too bad he looks 12.

Re: Phantom Drafts

Predicting the 2nd round is a bit of a crapshoot, much harder than it looks. Bias may, or may not have been involved. :)

  32 St Kilda - ???
Travis Colyer's got jet packs strapped to his tiny legs. He's one that could slide if West Coast pass him up in the 2nd round. His height is really what's holding him back from being a top prospect. Plays mostly as a goal kicking midfieder in the WAFL, but he's more than capable of fetching his own ball or swinging into the forward pocket. Listed atas 173cm, although afl.com.au have him at 175cm. He's still a bit on the skinny side and will probably need a good year of bulking up. Plays like Nathan Foley.

Nat Fyfe, Stevie J. Stevie J, Nat Fyfe. Describes himself as a tall midfielder who plays predominantly around the wing or high half-forward and highlights overhead marking as his strength. X-factor forward, that has good goal sense and excellent ball winning ability. What he lacks in pace (mind you he's not the slowest going around), he makes up in endurance. Stands at 186cm, but again he too is still on the skinny side and really won't be too effective at AFL level unless he bulks it up for the marking contests.

Jesse Critchton, just because he's a Saints supporter. Plus he likens himself to Lenny Hayes. Smart boy. No he's a Dale Thomas clone, stands at 183cm, plays mainly outside and sets up play with his "exceptional vision" and awareness. A bit on the skinny side, but he's more than capable of laying a tackle, as our own resident Ranga found out. Needs a haircut.

Dylan McNeil explained by Bourky23.

Dylan McNeil

Absolutely delighted that I was able to land Dylan here. Exactly the type of player every club would love to draft and it's handy that he fits some of most vital needs too.

Although relatively small in size and stature, Dylan makes up for it with the effort he puts in on the field. McNeil is quite versatile too, with the ability to play as a small forward and kick goals (as highlighted throughout this years national carnival). But he is definitely at home in the middle of the park.. St.Kilda has been crying out for a midfielder with the ability to kick goals and although I doubt Dylan would feature next season, it's certainly something good to have down the track. Has been likened to Lenny Hayes in the way he goes about his football and I can definitely see the resemblance. With Lenny getting on in age and clouds over Luke Ball's future at the club, it really only leaves David Armitage as a pure inside midfielder left at the club so Dylan (although not a pure inside midfielder) will help out in this regard.

Statistics
- Captain of both NSW/ACT and Murray Bushrangers
- Winner of Hunter Harrison Medal 2009 (best 2nd division player at National Championships

Player Resemblance
Smaller version of Lenny Hayes

Strengths
- Strong for his size
- Goalkicking midfielder
- Great attitude towards his football
- Leadership potential

Weaknesses
- Still only a kid, very small in size but could turn out to be like Gary Ablett Jnr in his build if he bulks up a bit and puts in the hard yards.

Looks like he likes to slap it on the boot and hope a bit too much.

Players that could slide through to us:
Daniel Menzel, Quarterback in every sense of the word.
Callum Bartlett, would need a miracle and a half. But basically a highly touted potentially top 5 youngster who did his knee and is know making a bolt up the rankings. Pace and skill the highlights of his game.
Allen Christensen, "prolific ball winner".
Mitch Duncan, versatile but plays mostly as a mid sized forward.
NAthan Vardy, best ruckman in the draft but at 198 cm he would be more of a KPF prospect.

Familiar names:
Kallen Geary
Nicholas Winmar
Derrick Wanganeen
Josh Duncan - Yes he has nominated for the draft. Obviously he wasn't satisfied with a rookie position. Must've been courted by another side willing to give him a senior spot or we flat out denied him which i doubt. If he doesn't get picked up he can still comeback to StKilda and we can secure him before the rookie draft.

Here's a little game, who does this remind you of?

Not really deadset keen on anybody, but hopefully we manage to nab an epic slider like Nick Heyne last year.
