Is there a difference between someone who has earned a spot at the top and people want to cut them down, against someone who doesn’t appear to have earned their spot at the top?

Nope, can't have a young confident person playing ramp shots in the first over of an innings!

Let's make sure every failure is known to as many people as possible.

Just like McSweeney, who we have not heard about since his last test.
I honestly don’t know what point that’s meant to make.

Other than there is a player with one outstanding shield match that has earned a national call up, and no one else has.

Given yourself a good 100 test and 8000 runs to fall into

It depends on how Sam matures as a batter, if he can develop his defensive game to support his natural attacking game, he would be closer to Warner, but if he can't develop his defensive game, he risks being similar to Finch, as in having a better career in T20 and one-dayers than test matches.

It’s a premeditated move. I’ll come back at you, have you ever faced a 140kmh bowler?

At that pace with feet planted, he’s the ultimate sitting duck. Looks good when you pull it off…
No either never got up to that level
But Sr has a good point.
A batsman only has to do 3 things with a bouncer.
1 it's off target= ignore don't have to move from initial stance. Bowler wastes energy
2 play an attacking shot. = get technique right ramp hook cut etc
3 Avoid and specially avoid it hitting you in the head. Most players that get hit duck into it.
Like any projectle aimed at you you need to have your eyes focused on it and have your head in a position of manoeuvrability.
A squat position allows it provided your momentum isn't still getting into position. And you commit early.
While a neutral batting stance is good human reflex takes over.
Freeze or duck into it or get frazzled especially if your feet and/or quads are locked. (Especially if nerves are at play).
So sharp movement is needed to stay flexible (but that may mean you are vulnerable to a Nick outside off or bowled clean) to a good ball.
Konstas batting on boxing day showed
tactical batting genuis which is lacking from the game.
He's over done it since but he could easily be the next smith

I think it's a great shot and players will get so good at doing it with low risk (might not be Konstas who is currently giving up his stumps on straights balls) that it will effectively result in the fielding team having one less fielder as you'll have to set a bloke back for it.

Love his attitude and self-confidence - doing a Merv with the Bay 13 crowd on his debut was brilliant - but harbour doubts about whether his defence will ever be good enough for him to be a consistently successful Test batter, especially as an opener.

I hope he proves me wrong.

181 from 8 innings @ 22.63 since returning from Sri Lanka early to work on his game.

Absolutely not test standard. Shouldn't be picked but they won't have the balls to not pick him.

Interestingly i heard Greg Chappell speak on radio today re: young players and specifically Konstas. Interesting listening from the 8minute mark

Needs time it's pretty clear, having the odd decent knock followed by a few bad innings getting out to poor shots. He's looking more like a 1 day mainstay than an opening test batsman. 1 day form is good.
