So the first final is an elimination final right? It may not be called that but that's what it is. Calling it a semi final actually makes no sesne, as if you win you are still a game away from the grand final.

Watched the second half of the Eagles v South on Fox last night

I thought the umpiring was good and can't see how South were ripped off.

The second goal was given for a delibeate trip after Inkster kicked the first and ran through the goals.

On a positive note I thought Jackman's goal was fantastic.

Yeah I saw the last quarter on FOX last night too.

Fair dinkum haha South's discipline was out the window - anyone notice Jarrod Cotton's finger to the crowd when he snapped that goal in the pocket?

Kym Cobb's rumble in the jungle...

The deliberate trip that led to the double goal.

As much as I hate the Eagles, they deserved the victory for being better behaved alone

I was in the grand stand on the flank almost right in front of Cotton's celebration. I thought we had the match won at that stage.

Then we quickly lost the lead thanks to that crock of a double goal.

You're right - 3 v 4 is really a quarter final. But under the Page (?) finals system, the first round of the final 4 (or second round of the final 5) is traditionally called the semi finals.

Still, at least the nominal SANFL semi finals involve the top four teams... unlike in the AFL.
