Round 16 2009:

Saturday 18th July
Central v Eagles - Elizabeth (ABC TV)

* Rookie Ricky Henderson has been dropped to the reserves after two consecutive quiet games. He still managed one goal in each of his 4 league games though. Ruckman Jonathan Griffin will make his return from injury and is named on the bench for Central. For the Eagles, Jared Petrenko is named in the forward pocket. No sign of Burton so he should play for Adelaide.

North v West - Prospect

* Tony Armstrong is named on the HBF, Phil Davis in the back pocket so he'll likely have to wait to make his AFL debut. Coming off his best league game of the season Rory Sloane is named on the interchange. Greg 'who?' Gallman is named in the 2's, he's got to be gone surely? Can we pull a July delisting?

Glenelg v Port - Glenelg

* Richard Douglas has been named on the HFF for Glenelg so it would appear as though Burton will get the nod for the Crows. Rookie Brian Donnelly is to line-up in the reserves.

South v Sturt - Noarlunga

* No word on South's team but Myke Cook will probably line-up across the HFF or on ball. For Sturt, Brodie Martin will probably fly to Melbourne as the travelling emergency, if not he'll line-up for the Double Blues. Tom '4 possessions' Lee will once again play in the seconds.

Bye – Norwood

NO. Then North have to pay the $ to him, not the AFC.

But he is gone at the end of the year.

thanks for doing it. I was going to do it 2 hours ago, but I oculdnt find anything on South or Sturt. From the 2 places I went for the previos time I did it

Without seeing anything of gallman seems a bit harsh to bag him considering the type of injury he got, i remember alistair lynch once saying it took him a couple of years to get over that type of injury. Also should remember he was ahead of otten as the 3rd defender based on preseason before he got the injury so the coaching staff must of liked him a little bit at least.

Bulldogs people told me Henderson was one of their best last week. Sounds like he was unlucky. I disagree Gallman was ahead of Otten as 3rd defender pre season

Henderson only got a handful of touches last week, surely he wasn't their best.

Perhaps he was better than the others? :p;)

Thanks for the write up Drummond. :thumbsu: Fairly clear that the Birdman is making a comeback!:D

Before his injury, Gallman was first in line for that 3rd tall, Otten was part of the midfield group. He was then thrown back into defence when it appeared Gallman and Kite wouldn't be able to do it.

Also, without any names being mentioned, Otten apparently told someone here (or was it a radio interview? My memory is shaky here) that he only got the job when "another defender pulled out with injury" during the preseason. Gallman was being groomed for that role so it makes sense that he'd be the one Otten was talking about.

I must have a short memory.

Going to head out to the North Vs West game this arvo.
First game of SANFL I've been to for years.
Will be good to see Armstrong and Davis in action.

Sumner's making his debut for the Eagles. PLEASE draft him Adelaide. :)

He looks pretty good already. I really took notice when he ran back with the flight of the ball into two oncoming Centrals defenders. Was ultra impressive as he knew they were coming too, but didn't shirk it at all. Moments later he was compared to Danyle Pearce haha. In a quarter of footy he's already shown he's much harder than Pearce.

Got a goal from a lucky free late in the quarter.

Doesn't mind dishing out a hip and shoulder or two either. Took down Chris Gowans, which I enjoyed. Had a bit of it this quarter! 4 or 5 touches in the first 3 minutes. Very impressive debut so far.

Massive hanger by Schell!

Barely seen Griffin so far. Been on the bench a lot I guess. Dropped a pretty easy mark under little pressure.

He's back alright. Our lack of ruck depth may give him another year on the list, and that's the only reason.

Just bumped off the ball by Debrowski. He's an absolute hack Griffin, too soft, can't mark, always injured/tired, delist.

Sumner is quality. There's some good Aboriginal mids/forwards available this year, Sumner, Wanganeen, Ah Chee just to name a few. :thumbsu:
