Round 18 Fixture:

Saturday 4th August
North v Norwood @ Prospect
Central v Eagles @ Elizabeth (ABC TV)
West v Glenelg @ Richmond

Sunday 5th August
South v Port @ Noarlunga

Sturt bye

Andrew McIntyre is named at CHB for the Roosters. Darren Pfeiffer will again line-up in defence for Norwood, Meesen in the ruck and Campbell in the midfield. A plethora of talent, however not good enough for the Crows…. Oh and Jericho will probably start on the wing or across the HFF.

• In the ABC match of the day Jonathon Griffin will again be in the ruck for Central, while Bernie Vince will start on ball for the Eagles.

• At Richmond Oval John Hinge will play another negating role, while James Sellar will probably stay in the reserves.

• On Sunday rookie James Turner will be the lone Crow in action and will be hoping to play another solid league game.

Well Drummond, Craigy was obviously keen for the Redlegs to get up this week, so he has left you with Campbell, Pfeiffer & Meesen. ;)

As a Bays supporter, I reckon we can get by without Douglas this week.

Do the crows selectors even worry about there players in the SANFL anymore? What happened to rewarding the players playing well in the SANFL. Sorry forgot we rewarded Campbell with half a game in the AFL. Betime Meesen,Pfieffer, Campbell and Sellar get a game with the crows they should have 100 sanfl games behind them. Sellar to make crows debut in 2010.

You'd reckon with that "plethora" of talent, Norwood would cream the Roosters! ;):D

Wooooooooooooooooooshhhhhh..... ;)

I know everyone gives you a lot of shit for your blatant Norwood bias Drummond but I'd just like to let you know that I appreciate your effort and dedication RE: the SANFL thread each week.
I'm also somewhat drunk.

I love the little digs he has each and every week in his little write ups. It wouldnt matter if Darren himself said he wasnt ready to play he still wouldnt believe him !!! Its Meesens 'on' week this week so he should go alright. Campbell was unlucky to be dropped so he'll hope to play a good game and get his spot back and I did agree somewhat that Darren was unlucky but I can move on ;). Hopefully the lad plays a good game but it wont be enough to beat the Roosters who are pushing for a top 2 spot. I hope to watch some of the WWT vs Centrals game during my local footy aswell, should be a grwat game.

I arrive in Adelaide at 12:50pm on Saturday. The game at Prospect looks interesting simply by having most Crows players in it. How far is Prospect from the airport and what time does the game start?

Allow 20-25 minutes by car or taxi to get to Prospect from the Airport. Game starts at 2pm.

With Norwood's "plethora of talent" you should beat North easily. I know you aren't including Macca because he is nowhere near inline for a Crow spot with his very average form since his injury. I will be at Prosvegas downing the beers at the Taj before heading to the Shed.

Having come up through the Glenelg system, can the crows move James Sellar to another club?

If he's not in their league team, they should be considering it IMO. Thats crap, they are holding him back.

:o a bit tongue in cheek, but seconds footy isnt what he and the AFC need at this point in his development. We need him playing at the highest levels to improve.

I could be wrong, but I don't think James Sellar would jump ship so quickly. He's a bays man through and through.

exhibit a:

1992 – Drafted by the Bulldogs from South Adelaide under father-son rule. (Father David played 133 games for Footscray, 1963-66 and 1968-71).

1994 – Makes AFL debut against St Kilda in round 21, only appearance for the season.

1995 – Season delayed by breaking a bone in his foot in a practice match. Plays three matches for the year.

1996 – Steps up to play 20 matches for the season. Nominated for the AFL Rising Star in round three. Represents South Australia against Western Australia after playing just 12 AFL matches. Finishes sixth in the best and fairest count.

It took til his 4th season for the great man Luke Darcy to start having a serious impact in the senior side.

Given the injuries and body size of some of our young talls we're very quick to discount them as part of our future because they aren't yet dominating in the seniors.

Talls take time.

I could be wrong, but I don't think James Sellar would jump ship so quickly. He's a bays man through and through.

Thanks for asking, and yes he is.

He had many consecutive games in the league side and his form was inconsistent. About 3 games in a row he spent more than half the game on the pine. Now that's hindering his development.

He played well in the reserves last week and hopefully he continues to do so. I hope he can force his way back into the league side.

He needs gametime and confidence, he'll get that in the reserves at this stage, not so in the seniors.

He'll probably be back sooner than later.

Was just about to ask the same question?

I wonder if he will actually play for South Adelaide on Sunday or come down the with a mystery injury.

Being a south supporter i would have loved him in the team.

Looks like the crows might be 'resting' him

You mean he will be given the week off don't you? His form has indicated that he has been resting all bloody season

Eagles down to Centrals by 10 points.

Bays beat Westies by a couple of goals.

North gazumped the shitter out of Norwood by 50+ points.

How can that be when they had the benefit of potential matchwinners in Pfeiffer and Meesen mistakenly omitted by the Crows.

I'm sure Drummond will give us sme reasons. ;)

Tight result for the bays, but will take the points after being down most of the day.

From the very little I saw of the SANFL game on ABC, Griffin looked terrific :thumbsu:

He even kicked a geat goal from outside 50 :D :thumbsu:
If we fall out of the finals race, I would like AFC to rest Hudson & play Maric, Meesen & Griffin all at once, with one rotated up forward.
