Fair game from Tex there.

Griffin is a concern.

According to the Advertiser, Hentschel strained his hamstring again :(

4 rounds to go then finals...looks like we wont see Hentschel till 09...hopefully a solid pre-season can eliminate this 'second wave' of reconstruction related injuries and get him back in AFL footy where he belongs.

His progress means that Gill should score another year as long as he doesn't do another injury prior to putting pen to paper.

i reckon he was only average last week, despite being named in the best. he took an eternity to get into the game, never dominated in the ruck before eventually being pushed forward where he sneaked a couple of cheap goals.

Went to the Eagles Vs Sturt game.

Again I thought McGregor was the best out of the Eagles trio playing, he was solid at CHF and seemed to be the only go to man in the forward line as Passador had a day he would rather forget. He always created the contest and did alot of good passes ect. In my mind he was the reason the Eagles kept with the double blues in the first half. I think he kicked one goal for the day from a massive kick off two steps from outside the 50. If he were to come back for the Crows I'd propose bringing him back at CHF or as a second tall leading forward on the flank.

Hentschel didn't have a great day, kicked a goal I think. Always made a contest. But I left the game thinking 'will he ever play AFL again...'. I am not sure.

Petrenko was also solid yesterday. I must say the thing that impressed me the most was his speed. Ran from the backlines with pace, and good skills. He also punched really well today, which you may laugh at but it was really solid, they would kick to his opponent and he would put a massive fist on the ball and send it tens of meters away. He did this on several occasions, was really good. I think we will see him playing for the crows by the end of the year

Who would possibly make way for Petrenko if he is to have a crack this year?

Agreed, how he made the best players is beyond me. Didn't do a thing in the first half, was often beaten in the ruck and to Ian Perrie in the forward line no less. He kicked 2 goals, one from a pretty dodgy mark that was paid and the other was a gift from Gowans in the square.

Griffin really needs to start doing more around the ground as his output at this stage is not up to modern day AFL standards. If the big angry Croat who eats small aircraft for breakfast can improve his around the ground work, then surely the more athletic Griffin can also.

Report coming in a tic.
Great pics Drummond. Gee Johncock looks a big man here. Did not realise his chest was so big and strong looking. No wonder the girls like his shoulders. Bring him back this week.

Hmmm from their recaps I'll do my interpretations from the AFC's.
Otten shines for South

Andy Otten’s consistency against shone through in the SANFL on the weekend.

Otten, who started the game deep in attack and then pushed into the midfield, was rated high among South’s best in its win over North Adelaide on Saturday. He had 25 possessions and kicked two goals in the second term. Greg Gallman started against Otten and was good defensively all day.
Will play this week.

Graham Johncock starred for the Port Adelaide Magpies, finishing with three goals from 23 possessions. He started slowly against young Crow Aaron Kite but had a strong influence in Port’s comeback against Norwood
Played well, could play this week.

Kite’s start was impressive and he also kicked a goal when sent forward later in the game.
Started well, was then beaten and pushed forward, displayed good versatility.

Also for the Redlegs, Taylor Walker impressed in a number of areas of his game and kicked 3.3, with two goal assists
Ticked more boxes, closer to making a debut.

Luke Jericho kicked one goal from ten possessions.
Hope no scouts were watching, no power running this week.

Four players were in action at Unley but only one was on the winning team. Rookie Brodie Martin had nine possessions on a wing and at half-forward for Sturt.
Was ordinary, wherever he may have played.

For the Eagles, Ken McGregor was a contributor as a key forward
Thanks for the memories.

Jared Petrenko had 15 possessions out of a back pocket.
Servicable, debut pushed back though.

Trent Hentschel started in defence against former Crow Ian Perrie and then went forward but strained a hamstring in the third quarter.
Trent! :(

Jonathon Griffin was serviceable for Central District in its win over Glenelg on Saturday night. He rucked for most of the night, had eight possessions, kicked a goal and had nine hit-outs.
Was rubbish.

In the SANFL reserves, James Sellar had another good game for Glenelg. Playing mainly at centre half-forward, he had 17 possessions, took some strong marks and kicked a goal
We wish he did this at league level.

Ed Curnow’s game was also rated as good by the observers.
Did anyone see him play?

James Moss (Central) had a quiet game
Salter, if only...

Tony Armstrong worked hard for North Adelaide but was ill and therefore spent a fair bit of time off the ground in the second half.
We’re hoping he was ill.

Looks like his chest has slipped a little. I thought stripes were slimming?

Walker started opposed to Thurgood and probably had the better of him kicking 1.1 on him, maybe 2 but I forget if Thurgood had gone off by that stage. Thurgood somehow found himself badly concussed in the second quarter and was helped off by the trainers. It seems a game doesn't go by where Thurgood isn’t helped off the ground but anyway back to Walker. Lokan moved onto him and the two were getting into each other a bit. Thurgood targeted him a bit early and gave away a free kick off the ball when he gave him a bit of a punch to the stomach. Walker was one of Norwood’s best though and without him we would’ve have stood a chance.

A question I have for you, have you seen him take many contested marks? Because I don’t think I’ve seen him take one. He is shaping up to me more like Fevola with each passing week. Fev isn’t strong in pack situations but is almost unbeatable out on the lead. Walker is terrific one out with his man and is rarely beaten. He isn’t afraid to jump into congested packs but his positioning in pack situations clearly isn’t a strength as he flies from behind too often.

Norwood are looking a bit slow and our last quarter, or even last half fade-outs are a real concern. Vlatko was very ordinary today and would’ve only had about half a dozen possessions. He did make few good leads but the delivery to him wasn’t flash and he missed a few shots on goal.

nice summary. I thought he played and moved classes above everyone on that ground. Quick lead, good hands, poise, good decision making and confidence. Superb piercing kick. Mediocre delivery didnt help. The boy is a star

Kite v average, but better than that

Johncock excellent but kicking still off

P Burgoyne awful

L Jericho see P Burgoyne, but a bit worse

Petrenko at 3:20...any better word than sexy? :o

Gee Curnow's disposal is ordinary, just seems to have no vision. Don't like his chances of staying on the list despite the hype.

thats what I thought when seeing the vision, seems to have an eye for the ball though

Petrenko really looks like a gun!! I just love it how he takes the opposition on and has the confidence to tuck the ball under his arms and go. It looks like we do have a good replacement for macca.

From watching the footage of sanfl round 18, curnow is starting to worry me a bit. He seems very indecisive with his disposals and his disposal is very ordinary. I was wondering if anyone could let me know how Moss is going and how is his disposal and pace? Thanks.

By the way Kite and Walker, GUN!

I thought that Petrenko's ball handling and evasiveness was first class, although some of his disposals were a bit iffy I thought.Kite really impressed me, some good grabs, good pace and looks a good size too.Curnow looked ordinary and Walker looked as good as everyone says he is.

Finally got around to watching the highlights. Curnow has been disappointing this year, I was hoping he could be a new Van Berlo but so far he hasn't done much. Should stay on the list but he'd want to have a pretty special 2009.

Walker and Petrenko are absolutely exciting and Kite looks like he could play AFL next year.

I would be very surprised if he stays on the list. Martin and Moss are both out performing him. WE wont keep all 3
