Been waiting for Drummond to work his usual magic but the inspiring Crows changes must have been too much for him and hes passed out from excitement.....Or maybe its just because its a boring round with 3 teams having a bye including Norwood.

Saturday

South v West
Hickinbotham Oval @ 2.00pm
ABC TV
Telecast from 2.00pm

Sunday
Glenelg v North
Challenge Recruitment Oval @ 2.00pm
RPH Adelaidehttp://www.rphadelaide.org.au/
Broadcast from 1.30pm

Port v Sturt
Alberton Oval @ 2.00pm
Life FM
Broadcast from 1.45pm

  • Kurt Tippett is again is a notable absence from the West side while spending some time on the Crows emergency list. Do the club agree with the notion that theres no point in playing him in a team where they will just play him in the ruck all game?
  • Andy Otten will resume his dominance in the midfield for South. You would assume Tippett and Patrenko will be the players on standby to allow Otten to line up. Myke Cook will remain in the reserves after a solid hit out for half a game last week.
  • Greg Gallman will play fullback for North but will need to have more of an influence on the game to survive the cut at seasons end. Tony Armstrong will continue his recent good form in the reserves and keep pushing for league selection.
  • James Sellar is injured apparently and will not play for Glenelg in any capacity after it looked likely he would be recalled to the league side. Edward Curnow will keep slugging it out in the bays reserves but looks likely to be dropped from the rookie list at years end.
  • Brodie Martin remains in the reserves after being dropped for the league side last week.

Sorry that it dosent quite have the underlying contempt that Drummond so effortlessly portrays:p

Are there 3 byes or is it a split round???? Surely there's only ONE bye when there's an odd # of teams?

9 teams, each get the 3 byes per year. That's 27 byes in total, for 22 rounds of footy. Hence, some rounds have more than 1 team having a bye.

Does anybody know what injury big Jim has got? I received the team sheets from the Bays yesterday and his name was notably absent, but that's all I know.

Trying to find that out, will let you know if I do.

Good news for the bays is that big Daniel Kirk is back. He left the club at the beginning of the year to train in Qld and have a shot at olympic kayaking, having been identified as having the required physique and aerobic capacity. According to an article in the Advertiser today, he didn't enjoy it that much and in particular missed playing footy with his mates, so he's back at the Bay playing in the reserves this week. Couldn't be better timing for the tigers with the finals coming up!

With three SANFL clubs not playing this weekend, only eight Crows listed players are likely to be in action.

Andy Otten goes back to South Adelaide and Kurt Tippett will play his first SANFL game this season with West Adelaide. Myke Cook has been named in South’s reserves and will be joined by guest player Jarrhan Jacky, who is on the way back from an ankle injury.

Greg Gallman will be at full back for North Adelaide’s league side against Glenelg while rookie Ed Curnow (Glenelg) and Tony Armstrong (North) will be in the reserves. James Sellar, who rolled an ankle last week, will miss this round.

In the game at Alberton, rookie Brodie Martin will line up for Sturt’s reserves.

So Tippett to play his first SANFL game this year by the looks of it.

This is a very interesting decision by the club. Can't see why they'd make Jacky play when his team has the bye unless they are attempting to fast track his return to match fitness with the intention of playing him in the AFL again.

So Tippett to play his first SANFL game this year by the looks of it, Otten getting dropped hurts even more by the fact he can't go back and put in a stellar performance...
Ummm... Otten IS playing for South, so how is he not able to go back and put in a stellar performance?

Wooo Tippett playing spices up todays ABC match. Otten vs Tippett

Somehow I don't think there's much chance they'll match up on each other ;)

That comment about Kurt Tippett and West is a too-clever-by-half statement. Tippett played full-forward almost all day and West won by 10 goals. Tippett was useful, without being dominant, but played a good role with a couple of goals.

betterthanu, I agree with you about Silverlock.

In the paper today, Otten had 16 kicks, 14 handballs, 7 marks, 3 tackles and 1 behind. Tippett 4 kicks, 2 handballs, 2 marks, 2 goals, 2 behinds.

Otten wasn't named in South's best.

I wasnt suggesting we draft him. HE kicked a bag in the under 17s moved up and kicked a bag in the 19s then played a few ressies matches before being brought up to league apparently.

I caught the end of the South's v West's game on ABC and in the wrap up they pretty much said that Otten was Souths best player other than Boyd and had just under 25 possessions. Some of the footage was encouraging, he has a good kick on him.
