I couldn't help but notice in today's paper that the SANFL trials are getting underway tomorrow night at The Parade.

As we saw last pre-season, a handful of Crows players will take part in the trials over the next few weeks and I think we would all be keen to hear how our rookies and some of the younger players are shaping up and how they're fitting into their SANFL side.

Perhaps any notes regarding the progress of Crows players could be placed here.

The SANFL trials schedule is:

February 27
- Norwood v Glenelg (Norwood, 7:40pm)
- Central District Internal (Elizabeth 6:00pm)
- South Adelaide Internal (Noarlunga, 6:30pm)
- North Adelaide Internal (Max Basheer Reserve, 6:45pm)

February 28
- Port Adelaide v Woodville West Torrens (Alberton, 1:00pm)
- West Adelaide Internal (Richmond, 10:00am)

March 6
- Norwood v West Adelaide (Norwood, 7:40pm)

March 7
- Central District v Glenelg (Elizabeth, 2:00pm)

March 14

March 20

- West Adelaide v Port Adelaide (Richmond, 2:00pm)

Would someone mind posting who to look out for in each team? I know most of the Crows playing for the SANFL clubs but it would be good to have a list to go with this set of matches :)

Just on the game tonight, there is a possibility it gets pushed back a bit I think by about 30 minutes cause they were concerned about the heat, contact the NFC today to confirm if you are planning to go there.
free entry for the trial. If it is I may go. Its only a 90m walk to the boudrary line.

The Clubs and the Crows players who could possibly line up for them during the trials peroid (I've included new draftees, second year players and those returning from injury who may play):

Norwood
- Aaron Kite, Will Young

Central District
- Ricky Henderson, Brad Symes

Sturt
- Tom Lee, Brodie Martin

Glenelg
- Brian Donnelly, Richard Douglas

Woodville West Torrens
- Jared Petrenko, Jarrhan Jacky

North Adelaide
- Phil Davis, Rory Sloane, Tony Armstrong

Port Adelaide

South Adelaide
- Shaun McKernan, Myke Cook, Andy Otten, Nathan van Berlo

West Adelaide
- Patrick Dangerfield, Jason Porplyzia, Ben Rutten, Kurt Tippett, Chris Schmidt

Will Young not lining up for the Legs tonight which is a shame as I would've liked to see him make his unofficial debut for the Mighty Legs. At least Kite will play after being ruthlessly culled by Craig.

Ah Drumm, always the master of the hyperbole:D

Am stoked SANFL's getting underway, going to be a ripper season:thumbsu:

Donnelly should be playing tonight for Glenelg I would imagine. I wish this game didn't clash with the Crows one, would like to see this one.

North Adelaide and South Adelaide will be good teams to watch this year, as they have players who may not play alot (especially North).

But go you Westttiiiessssss :thumbsu:

Well that was a disaster. :(

Donnelly was playing reserves, a week after that amazing talent identifier in Stephen Rowe said he would be playing league all season. So I obviously didn’t rock up for the early game so I've got no idea how he went.

As for the league game, Kite started off well taking a nice 1-on-1 mark from the kickout. His kick was wayward though as he sent it to an area where Glenelg outnumbered Norwood 2 to 1. The ball came straight back and he mopped up well, dishing out two handballs in the process. He later was used as the switch man so he ended up with 5 possessions and 3 marks. He gave away two frees for the night, one clumsy in the back and the other was getting his opponent too high. He really wasn’t in that many contests for the night, one saw him pitted against their ruckman and he stormed into front position but the ball went over his head so his opponent took an easy mark.

He started the second quarter but I noticed he wasn’t out there about 10 minutes into the quarter. I didn’t think he would be off for a rest so I assumed he was injured but I didn’t see him pick up an injury. At half time I saw him limp out from the dugout with an ice pack on his knee. He limped off after the players had down the race. He reappeared after half time on crutches with a little bit of tape around his knee. I honestly don’t think it’s too bad, not as bad as it sounds. The crutches are just to support his knee and to prevent him from putting any pressure on it. He looked in decent spirits at the ¾ huddle. Shouldn’t be too much to worry about.

And while this isn’t really Crows related, Luke Jericho, whose power running and contested marking was a feature, was taken off on a stretcher in the 3rd quarter with a knee injury. Not sure the extent of the injury but lets hope it’s not too serious.

according to good old fester on the norwood forum... Jericho and Kite both done medial strains in their knees and could be 6 - 8 weeks, waiting on confirmation and medical reports of course, just what I've been told. Jericho took a heavy knock to the head as well....

didnt think id ever see u call a 10 goal norwood win a "disaster", drummond? ;)

I tend to talk from purely a Crows perspective on here. ;) The Norwood or SAFooty forum is where it's 100% Norwood.

Would be real disappointing if Kite was out for that long when it didn't look all that serious. Similar injury to what he suffered in Round 1 last year. He's building quite a long list of injuries. :( I was standing only a couple of metres away from him at 3/4 but didn't want to intrude. I was planning on asking him how the knee was.

he'll know the answer to that when he gets an mri on the weekend most likely.

Yeah those types of injuries quite often don't seem that bad, but once they get them checked out, there's a bit of a surprise.

Shame for young Kitey, last thing he needed at the moment, wish him best of luck with his recovery, oh and Jericho too.

As a West Adelaide supporter, I watched our internal trial today. I was hoping the Bloods might have had Patrick Dangerfield for Round 1 in a few weeks, but after today's trial, that's less likely. Class act today.

Oh, the other interesting AFL snippet was that Chris Schmidt was probably close to B.O.G.

You saying Dangerfield played good.. or?

I think he's saying Dangerfield is a class act and is too good to be playing for Westies Round 1 but I'm no budding journalist so don't quote me on that.

yes i agree with that interpretation. was a difficult one, though.

id love to see the dangermouse playing for the crows, but the question i guess is how many "kids" will be picked for the season proper?
