The Cott is the greatest on sundays and no ****ed up multiplex should ruin it.

I think that it should stay. Is this pub near the beach?

I think that it should be involved with the beach and still have a car park.Originally posted by 1jasonoz
Yep perfect views out to Rotto, down to Freo and beyond, and up the coast.
I am surprised that they haven't called for a class action against the builders.Originally posted by ozzult
I've almost gone into a state of acceptance. Cott Hotel employees were sent their letters of termination during the week.

Why not walk up the road to the OBH instead.

Plow the place I say.
Its too big for its own good.
Sure the beer garden is decent but the point is people will find another place and sun sessions will go on.
Steves is making a play for sun nights though its too far away from other places or the beach.
My opinion is that red rock will take off as another club is just around the corner.

Unfortunately, most people are missing the point, and Multiplex are sitting back and laughing.
All these petitions to save the Cott are playing into Multiplex's (namely Mr Tim Roberts) hands. He isn't demolishing the hotel. He is trying to build a six or seven storey unit complex on the beer garden site.
The issue isn't saving the Cott, it's about stopping developments on the Cottesloe beachfront of over 3 stories.
The more people rant on with these 'Save the Cott' petitions, the more the real issue at hand is deflected from. No decision makers are going to be concerned about losing a beer garden that produce drunk people who make noise, **** on residents' lawns, and pull burnouts in their cars.
Decision makers however will have issues with setting the precedent for allowing multi-storey developments along the beach front. But only if pressure is put on them. At the moment, all the pressure is about something that really doesn't matter. It makes it easier for them to let it through.
All you tossers who have been to the Cott Sunday session once and think you have the right to wave your arms up in the air about your lifestyle being diminished, should **** off. You're making the situation worse.
It's a shame some ****wits without brains started the wrong petition and diverted attention and scrutiny from the real issue at hand. You bunch of ****wits.
Nice. Now if only some of these "I've been to the Cott once and think it outrageous that the stop me from going there and perving at the chicks" understood that there was a bit more to it.Originally posted by ozzult

Along the same lines, Raffles serves last drinks today.
Another venue gets exchanged for a high rise development.

Well as someone who drives past the Raffles regularly (I live in Applecross, but not anywhere near the Raffles end of the suburb), I'd have to say that a multi-story development would be a grand improvement on that eyesore.
