Save The Cott

Its a great pub, great place to eat and relax. Flew my parents over from Melbourne for their first ever visit to WA, lunch at the Cott, within minutes of sitting down, they where trying to see if they could shift over here.

I think that it should stay. Is this pub near the beach?

Yep perfect views out to Rotto, down to Freo and beyond, and up the coast.

I think that it should be involved with the beach and still have a car park.

This is what Rye is like. They have a ferry and a pub on the beach and they also have a huge car park and some caravan parks around. We have been on the ferry coming from Queenscliff. Nice spot.

It is also similar to Esperance in WA.

I've almost gone into a state of acceptance. Cott Hotel employees were sent their letters of termination during the week.

I am surprised that they haven't called for a class action against the builders.

If the Cott goes it will join the long list of Pubs that have closed or gone "up market" in the last 5 to 10 years.

The Sunday session at the Cott is about the only thing that gets me through summer. Nothing like a cold beer to bring back all those footy memories.

It will be a sad day when it shuts.

I'm seriously Dark!!!
I thought they were going to reconsider.
I guess the beer garden will be gone and the pub will shrink and become more upmarket.

What's next, Steves?? Capt S??

B****ds

Plow the place I say.
Its too big for its own good.
Sure the beer garden is decent but the point is people will find another place and sun sessions will go on.
Steves is making a play for sun nights though its too far away from other places or the beach.
My opinion is that red rock will take off as another club is just around the corner.

Grow a heart.

Unfortunately, most people are missing the point, and Multiplex are sitting back and laughing.

All these petitions to save the Cott are playing into Multiplex's (namely Mr Tim Roberts) hands. He isn't demolishing the hotel. He is trying to build a six or seven storey unit complex on the beer garden site.

The issue isn't saving the Cott, it's about stopping developments on the Cottesloe beachfront of over 3 stories.

The more people rant on with these 'Save the Cott' petitions, the more the real issue at hand is deflected from. No decision makers are going to be concerned about losing a beer garden that produce drunk people who make noise, **** on residents' lawns, and pull burnouts in their cars.

Decision makers however will have issues with setting the precedent for allowing multi-storey developments along the beach front. But only if pressure is put on them. At the moment, all the pressure is about something that really doesn't matter. It makes it easier for them to let it through.

All you tossers who have been to the Cott Sunday session once and think you have the right to wave your arms up in the air about your lifestyle being diminished, should **** off. You're making the situation worse.

It's a shame some ****wits without brains started the wrong petition and diverted attention and scrutiny from the real issue at hand. You bunch of ****wits.

Very similar to the Point Nepean stuff that is going on in Melbourne. Shouldn't happen at all.

Nice. Now if only some of these "I've been to the Cott once and think it outrageous that the stop me from going there and perving at the chicks" understood that there was a bit more to it.

Once a precedent is set and one high rise goes in, developers will smell dollars, and move in.

Along the same lines, Raffles serves last drinks today.

Another venue gets exchanged for a high rise development.

Raffles should have been kept, but the whole place should have been redeveloped. I guess the owners weren't gonna spend any money on it now considering that it is gone. But it was getting pretty run down in the last few years.

What does the government think is gonna happen to thousands of people that frequent the Cott on a Sunday? There isn't another venue close that would come close to being able to hold the capacity of the Cott, (excluding the OBH cos that gets packed on Sundays now too). Is it going to mean more teens on the streets? Probably boozing it up too.

Ah
Hey just because your some kind of lifeless kill joy who would prefer to spend their time scouring the internet for a good time and knocking those that do go out.
Doesnt give you the right to call us tossers or ****wits.
The sooner people such as yourself have no say in what happens to venues where people interact (you do know wat that is dont you), where people S O C I A L I S E, without the need for a computer to hide behind. The better for the rest of us.

/end rant

O I am sorry did I presume to know you and your life off bigfooty?
Gee how rude of me.....

I love sunday sessions, I enjoy freuqently getting drunk.
But never once have I destroyed public or private property.

Well as someone who drives past the Raffles regularly (I live in Applecross, but not anywhere near the Raffles end of the suburb), I'd have to say that a multi-story development would be a grand improvement on that eyesore.

It's only an eyesore because of the tacked on crap with it. It'd be great if they could renovate the main part of the pub and incorporate it with the new developement.

The original building itself is a superb example of art deco architecture. These buildings look fantastic when restored to their original glory.
