/end rant

I love sunday sessions, I enjoy freuqently getting drunk.
But never once have I destroyed public or private property.

OK knob-end.

1) Been to the Cott many a time. Like getting drunk. Like perving at chicks.

But that wasn't my point.

2) Never called people f_wits who got drunk and had a good time.

I'd calling myself a f_wit then wouldn't I?

I was referring to people who have been there a couple of times and think that they have a right to comlain. Apart from a a minority, all I have heard about is people rave on about how they went there once and the beer was great and the chicks were great, rah rah rah.

I'm sorry, but that is just ridiculous.

3) I never intimated that all people who get drunk wreck property. You'r just reading what you want to read rather than what I said. If you were in the know (you're obviously not), then you would know that local residents are complaining about the behaviour of some customers after the Sunday Session closes. The point I was trying to make is the argument "Don't close the Cott because I like going there and getting ****ed" doesn't quite have the same sway as "The current rule is that no building can be over 3 storeys, once you let one multi-story development in, you (the members of the council) will be responsible for opening the floodgates and cheapening the area.

Go read and interpret my post again you clown.

O I am sorry did I presume to know you and your life off bigfooty?
Gee how rude of me.....
Fine by me, as long as you p-off back to the suburbs, bogan.

Well i've never been there but i'm going to head down to the raffs this afternoon, seems a shame that such an icon (my dad went there when he was my age.) will be going but oh well. What does **** me off though is that thousands upon thousands of signatures were sent to the local council to stop the buildling there and the council seemed to take no notice and gave the go ahead anyway. I'm not sure of the particulars behind the story there but it seems pretty wrong.

Are you a soccer fan?
This is soccer mentality "You havent been as much as me so I have a right to say your jump on the bandwagon and arnt worthy"
Furthermore most people are regulars as they enjoy some aspect for it.
Who cares if they have never been anyway what has that got to do with it?

Ah so its some kind of elite club that has the right have problems with the removal of the cott?
Aww will mummy and daddies view of the beach be interupted?
You know what is worse than people that are crying save the cott because they like the beer garden?
People that cry save the cott because it will devalue their homes

Does living the next suburb over classify me as a bogan?

It's a shame some ****wits without brains started the wrong petition and diverted attention and scrutiny from the real issue at hand. You bunch of ****wits.

how can you say that those who have only ever been there once have no right to rally against wats happenin ? maybe they dont care that cott will have a taller bulding, but care that young people will lose a place that they enjoy hanging out at ?

isnt the whole point of a petition to express personal opposition to an issue......rather than having to be opposed to the supposed 'real' issue set by people like urself...

cott may be a good place .... but really who cares... people will get over it and go somewhere else and have just as much fun....

if its making way for bigger and better things then i say why not... im all for improving our tourist areas....

It's making way for a high rise residential apartment building. How is that improving our tourist area?

I despise councils and the like making decisions about stuff like this just because of money. I live in North Melbourne and I know it very well. That is councils deciding something has to go just so they can make money.

The trouble is that by the time the residents hear of some building being up for sale/demolition or whatever, it is usually too late because the govt and business has already decided it is gonna go.

All I can say is I hope this place stays, for the heritage value and social value.

But further on, just everyone keep an eye out for places you feel might be on the developers eye to dump in the sea. I am not kidding! Our heritage no matter if it may only be one hundred years, fifty years or whatever is getting bagged by those who don't care. It always matters to those who live there and actually know the place.

Good luck!

This is not the point.

The point is that signatures, testimonies, and jumping up and down about destroying a pub from a bunch of people who rarely go there will not only not get the correct point across, but will deflect from the real issue.

What's more, local residents should have a preference over drinkers. As you previously stated, the OB is down the road. Once 1 highrise goes up, that's it.

Ah so its some kind of elite club that has the right have problems with the removal of the cott?
That's not what I'm saying. Every has the right to go there and everyone has the right to complain about it getting removed. But, many of these people are barking up the wrong tree and making the situation worse.

That has been my point from the start. If you can't comprehend that, you're a tool.

You know what is worse than people that are crying save the cott because they like the beer garden?
People that cry save the cott because it will devalue their homes
How do you work this out? People pay good money to live in an area (property price and rates), and therefore have a say on the direction of an area. You're a fool.

Does living the next suburb over classify me as a bogan?
I was waiting for this one. Seems like a foolish comment on my behalf? I was just doing what you were doing - making assumptions about other people. You were happy to assume that I was a killjoy - but you're not happy that I assumed you were a bogan. I have been reading this site and was aware that you had recently got a unit in Claremont. But that's probably more about being close to the speedway where you can reminisce about past nights out.

Yes, but personal opinions that won't count for anything. I'll say it again, these opinions are deflecting from the opinion that has a far greater chance of stopping the development. Why is that so hard for you to understand?

cott may be a good place .... but really who cares... people will get over it and go somewhere else and have just as much fun....
Further backs up my point. No one who is making the decisions realistically cares much about losing a beer garden. people will still be able to use the front bar or walk 300m up the road to the OB.

Everyone making this big bru-ha-ha about losing the beer garden makes it easy for councillors to justify their decision. It is easier to say no to, "We want to keep the pub so we can comntinue drinking p*ss" rather than, "We don't want high-rises built on our beach front"

if its making way for bigger and better things then i say why not... im all for improving our tourist areas....
So which side are you on? Why don't you clarify your position? Or was that a transparent attempt to upset me?

It's only an eyesore because of the tacked on crap with it. It'd be great if they could renovate the main part of the pub and incorporate it with the new developement.

The original building itself is a superb example of art deco architecture. These buildings look fantastic when restored to their original glory.

Don't agree with this (other than that the tacked on parts of the Raffles are ugly). IMO art deco architecture sucks anyway.

Yes and what about the majority that go their on a regular basis?
Who is to say what the real issue is?
Your worry is the devaluation of ur inheritance
Ours is the loss of a pub
Who is right?

Why should they?
Cott is for the entire state not just for the snobby few?

Yes but what is more noble?
Some little rich boy winging about his inheritance or loosing a cultural icon..something that people come to the state to see?

i dont really care about the cott going... good place... but not a really big deal.... can see why some are upset though...

wasnt tryin to upset you, though i believe you are very worked up already.... tissue?

i say.... build up.... i have been to surfers paradise and it is spectacular.... full of high rise buildings.... our coastline is rather boring in my opinion... nice, but boring...

while we are at it.. whos keen for a 'Rottnest Vegas' ? i reckon it would be excellent as a casino/resort island... :)

The real issue is to stop a 7 storey establishment being built. Some people are going about it the wrong way.

Your worry is the devaluation of ur inheritance
Get your hand off it.

Ours is the loss of a pub
Is that why you said earlier to knock it down and people could walk up to the OBH? Over the years, you once again prove yourself a delusional tool.

Who is right?
me

Why should they?

No, people who live in a suburb and pay rates have more of a say on what happens to the infrastructure of that suburb

Again wrong tree by your definition
You still have got the point. I think you be a little thick.

err, sorry champ, you got it the wrong way around.

Can you two please get a room?

It's not really that exciting watching you fight all the time, you know.

For the benefit of Sabre and any other people who can't logically analyse the situation:

1) Multiplex have bought the site
2) Since Multiplex own the site, they have the right to submit redevelopment plans to the council
3) The current development height restriction is 3 storeys
4) If Multiplex handed in a proposal for a 3 storey development, the council will almost certainly approve it - as you can't heritage list a beer garden
5) There are no plans to knock down the actual hotel - there will still be a place to drink
6) So, at the very least, there will be a development on the beer garden site
7) So jumping up and down about 'Save the Cott' is a moot point. It's going and there isn't anything that will be able to stop it.
8) However, there is a chance to stop the 7 storey going ahead and only having a 3 storey.
9) Except, people such as yourselves are making a big noise about which isn't only wasting time, but is moving attention away from the fact that the council height restrictions are at 3 storeys.

Let me summarise that for you in case you didn't get it: You are a tool.

I will translate.
"Mummy and Daddies view will be disrupted, their land values will go down, I cant now just live off my inheritance, I am a selfish little prat".

Bunsen if the cause was noble I would back you up.
But your being selfish and down right "eagle"

Certainly the main point. Allowing the 7 storey development is the thin edge of the wedge, will it allow Cottesloe to turn into a mini-Surfers Paradise?

What people think of me is irrelevent. It's hard to deny the facts that I put forward. I knew there was a reason I hadn't bothered talking to you for all these years.
