Fancy trying to turn a natural midfielder with great aeorobic capacity into a back pocket player.

Yes his disposal is iffy but you'd trade for him as he's young enough to get that ironed out...i'm sure he didn't leave Adelaide with questionable disposal??

His disposal isn't iffy at all. Thats why he is playing down back because his disposal is so good. He just happened to have a shocker last weekend.

coz he is a bigfooty genius who sees an interstate player out of contract probably...

Not out of contract until the end of 2007. But at the right price he could be very tradeable.

I haven't seen a lot of him lately but as a junior he had great disposal by both hand and foot. He was easily the most skilled midfielder from SA that year.

My recollection of Schammer is that he a clean player who goes in hard, and has gat disposal. Has a bit of an arrogance about him and is pretty handy around stoppages.

If he was available, I would definetly look at him but I get the feeling Port would be more desperate for his type than we would.

Didn't Neesham provide the template for such a ploy with one James Walker, the Grandson of Gordon Coventry and #6 in the real superdraft?

Yes and that;s why Freo are where they are

Blame your backward bloody coach. Play a pure midfielder in the backline

Absolute w@nker is CC.

For any other club Schammer would be a gun right now. CC has totally f*cked him up

Im usually not too interested in hypotheticals, as it would never happen (considering he;s contracted) but I'll bite.

Considering the 'supposed' strength of this years draft then I'd think all the AFC would be prepared to offer would be a late first rounder. Most clubs would be pretty reluctant to part with their draft picks this year I would think.

There's no way in the world I'd give up a first-round pick for Schammer. He's a good, solid player but that's about it. Blokes like him are a dime a dozen.

Luke Jericho and a 3rd (around 45 – 50 pick) round draft pick for Byron Schammer :thumbsu:

Actually Stiffy Id say his type would be the last we'd need. A small unaccountable back flanker isnt high on our priority list. Especially when we are trying to develop a whole bunch of tougher guys down there, with the likes of Thomas, Lower, Symes and Surjan able to play there, plus Cassisi and Shaun and possibly Looby on the rookie list too. He hasnt really shown that he can turn into an A grade midfielder either. Plus he knocked us back in the past and they would probably want a first round draft for him. I wouldnt be happy if we traded out of the first round of the superdraft for him.

He isnt a half back flanker at all

No hes just played there as a loose man all year getting easy kicks.

Again last on our priority list.

Sure, but he isn't the in & under type of player that Port are need of either.

As for us, I wouldn't go after Schammer unless he is going cheap. KPP's are a priority for us in the super draft.
