The two compo picks are better than pick 4.

GWS could have 3 picks in the first round of the "Super Draft" next year whereas the quality of those picks would be as good if not better than pick 4 in this draft.
Agreed... although the GC have a compensation pick of their own that they can throw in.

I think we are well placed to get either pick 1 or 2 in the mini draft, just depends on how badly we want it (if at all).

Interesting that the HS reported we're the only ones in the race bar the Gold Coast.

But I wonder whether we're also keen on that other gun 17yo, Brad Crouch is it? From Vic Country. Seen as the second best of the 17yo's.

In your opinion, remembering your the bloke who said Tom Hawkins was shit.

Every newspaper and footy commentator seems to be of the opinion that pick 4 would be seriously hard to trump.

An if those 2 picks are so valuable, why are we considering trading them?

I think that our list is at a stage where we have the cattle, but just need to focus on developing them properly and with a solid game structure.

They are valuable, but replacing Scully to our best ability is more important than adding a couple of mid-first round talents... where in all honesty the strike rate is about 50/50.

Please think about TOM SWIFT as a 16yo before you consider selling all our eggs and the chicken to get 1 kid.

Interesting.

But consider that the hype around Swift was from U16 Carnival performances, not under 18 performances.

And that most of his hype was based around ball accumulation and endurance, rather than skill.

He played well in one finals series, he's got a lot to make up for before he isn't considered shit. If he has a big year next year I'll be happy to admit that I'm wrong but one finals series doesn't change much at this stage.

You have to give something good to get something good, not a hard concept to follow.

Ill take a terrible year and a great finals series over a great year an a poor finals series every single day of the week.

Winning your side a GF is far far more valuable than whether your normal season form was up to scratch.

I can only remember one thing Stewart Dew did for the Hawks after he was drafted by them, but id take his 3 goal 3rd quarter in the GF over everything he copped during the season.

Whats with the school yard style snipey undertone in every one of your posts...

Mate i realise that, im saying if these two picks are so good, why are we so hell bent on getting o'meara, why not use them in future drafts like having 3 first round picks next year (1 goes to Viney obviously) or even further on...

I just think there is other options, for instance trading in some more experienced players Dangerfield, Gaff etc

And because we need another elite midfielder more than we need two more excellent midfielders (which we already have in Gysberts, Blease, etc).

I should apologise to you guys for hyping up O'Meara so much D: Kid's off to the GC, hopefully he's prone to homesickness and leaves for WA :p

Now thinking that we either use the picks in the 2012 draft or throw them at a homesick Victorian player from the GC or GWS. Josh Caddy, Dylan Shiel, Tom Lynch and Adam Treloar come to mind.

And now, if you mention O'Meara ever again, you'll get pistol whipped.
