Lets not hit the panic button yet. Hentschel is showing some signs (his coolness under pressure) that he will be a good defender in time. We have for the first time in a long while a full back with some height and marking power.

Put Kenny back to CHB where his poor decision making is not as costly and we have a tall key defender who should be able ot give us drive from this position.

Bring in Fergus Watts to a FF/CHF position and the spine is beginning to take some shape.

Now that we have some of the talls, we need to make sure that we get some highly skilled midfielders that will be able to hit the tall targets that we are beginning to accumulate in our squad.

We also need to get a "junkyard dog" to help Roo with some grunt in the midfield.

I am sure the retirement of Smart and Carey and the replacement of experienced players who have been on reasonable money will give the Crows the opportunity to also trade. Players that have been found wanting or are defecient in some part of their game should be shipped on to other sides before they get too old and fade from the scene.

I am sure there will be plenty of changes by this time next year. There will be a decent turnover of players come the end of the year.

Port kicked 26 goals today :D But onto the matter at hand. I agree with Stiffy_18. It's round 3. You still have 11 games at AAMI and with Port's victories at home being wars of attrition I wouldn't be shocked if you snagged the first showdown of 04. Christ win 8 of those 11 and you only need to pinch 4 out of the 8 remaining road trips. Today's match certainly didn't help your cause, but it's next round that's the real season definer for you. Win and you're quickly back into the mix with us non-Victorian sides having the 'easier' home games to help bank wins, lose though and as important as 0-4 is, it'll be the absolute shattering of confidence of losing 4 straight, including 2 home games that'll effectively end your season. As an football fan watching on without it being my club next round promises to be a fascinating match watching how Adelaide plays.

I'm not looking forward to it. So far I have not heard one word out of the club along the lines that maybe their approach is wrong, their gameplan needs fixing. If anything, the club is saying the opposite.

Until they change their approach, they are going nowhere this year. At the moment it is painful to watch them play.

PS: - Port on the other hand look pretty darn good. It seems at the moment Port are the only challengers to the Lions.

Knowing the way our recruiting has gone in previous years we will end up with just more of the same = players that look good & show heaps of "potential"

The best thing Adelaide could do is recruit Robert Shaw .... as your recruiting manager. With the exception of Johncock you haven't had one real superstar in the making since then.

I don't think we should be playing Hentschell as a FB from next year. He still has to develop a bit more and but on some muscle or he'll just be pushed around like Bassett is - plus we would lose his creativity from the back. We really need Parker or, dare I say it, Smith to become a solid fullback. How are they both going? From reports I've heard Parker hasn't exactly set the world on fire, although he is coming back from a shoulder injury (?).
