Yes every player nominates a player. But it can't be from their own team. Always was on Fox footy the night before the GF. They also pick best 1st year player.... enter Joel Selwood.

Got the Prelim first.
The lid.
One game at a time Ling Sting.
Just had a look at AFL website. Loners and Jimmy have been nominated as most courageous. Joel has all the other nominations covered.

What a joke!!! Jimmy before Scarlo.
The players vote for their teammates and the players with the most votes are then nominated for the MVP etc. Obviously Scarlo and Gary received the most votes from their teammates:thumbsu: All players then vote for the MVP etc but they cannot vote for players from their own team.

Some interesting nominations in several of the AFLPA awards*. I'm surprised the actual awards aren't taken with anywhere near the amount of prestige they deserve - peer respect is arguably far more 'honourable' than that of the media. The MVP Award (Leigh Matthews Trophy) would/should be one of the most prestigious individual honours a player can collect - interesting to see how Gaz polls there.

Jimmy predictably grabs the Robert Rose nomination for courage (along with Lonners), while Selwood will complete the rookie awards sweep and take out the 'best first-year' award, one would think.

*Interesting to see guys like McVeigh gain one of the two club nominations ahead of a guy like Lucas. Similar things go for Dom Cassisi over either Brendon Lade or even Kane Cornes.

Jimmy missed out, but I'd be equally interested to see (seeing as we're talking about the MVP and not the 'best player') how Moons faired among player opinions.
