I can't say this was much of a suprise, and I am extremely glad it looks as though Jolly will play after all. This will allow White to play to his full talent and not conserve, and with the Eagles only having one noted ruckman we should be able to exploit the ruck department.

Here's the story from Demons.com.au

Nursing a foot injury, Anthony McDonald will join Travis Johnstone on the sidelines for Melbourne’s important clash with the West Coast Eagles at Optus Oval tomorrow.

McDonald, 29, fell awkwardly on his ankle at the end of the Demons’ round two clash with Port Adelaide. And having played with a bruised foot against Richmond last week, McDonald ruled that the hindrance was too limiting.

“He went off the track early [on Wednesday],” Melbourne coach Neale Daniher said, “We won’t be playing Anthony so one of our emergencies will come in, probably Darren Jolly.”

A club official tonight said McDonald is expected to be available next week.

Melbourne and West Coast, fifth and fourth on the ladder, have surprised critics with their impressive early form. But despite his team’s positive start, Daniher believes the sceptics who predicted a lowly ladder finish for the Demons are yet to be answered.

“We probably won’t know until another five, six or seven games whether Melbourne are any good or West Coast, but right now West Coast is a very good team and we’re going to have to play some really good footy,” he said.

“I think everyone rates teams from the previous year and no one really gets excited unless Essendon and Brisbane are winning, but Adelaide has been very good and West Coast has been very good.”

Daniher said his team was lethargic in its 20-point loss to Richmond, but considers his side revitalised after enjoying its first seven-day break for the season.

“They’ve been really good….This week they’ve had extra time and they’re really fresh.”

The last time the Demons played at Optus Oval they enjoyed a thrilling 6-point victory over Carlton, and while voicing his preference for the MCG, Daniher urged Melbourne supporters to travel to the ground again.

“We’d be disappointed as Melbourne people if all our supporters were still sitting in the MCC watching Hawthorn Collingwood and can’t go another ten minutes down the track to watch their team,” he said.

his hip? when the hell did he injure his hip?
Anyways I don't think Browny will play this week and that could hurt us a bit coz he has been in excellent form so lets hope Walshy is all clear to play on Friday.
Yep a corked hip from what I hear, not sure if it's true or when it happened, or how bad it is for that matter! But to be named you'd think he was close to being included, hopefully he will be back this week.

Well he seemed fine walking up and down the dodgy stairs of Optus so yeah I really do hope he makes it onto the ground on Friday... and by making it onto the ground I mean on the field not in the seats! :D :p

I hope you are right mate! Johnno may be right to return also, so hopefully he can replace Browny, with Walshy for Funcke.

I seriously wouldn't rush Johnno, better safe than sorry. Get him ready for Sydney I say.
Also I think Funcke and Cookie (Williams that is :p) should both be dropped and that Robbo and Walshy should come back. Browny possibly missing this weeks game will also give way for Macca to come back if he is ready and if Jolly is dropped than Lamb could possibly be brought in coz he did very well on the weekend apperantly.

I said this earlier I think, but why change a winning side with about four changes?? It's not worth it.

Brown is out, so someone like Walsh will be brought in to replace him. Williams did enough to stay up, Funcke is in doubt to keep his place. Plus, the selectors like Jolly, so he will stay. Look for no more than two changes, possibly the two who were late withdrawals coming back in.

Well you obviously weren't watching coz Lukie, as good as his name may be, played like crap! He really had no impact on the game and with Schwarta not kicking too many goals as of now I'm pretty sure that Robbo will be brought back in.

I have the game on tape, watched it three times and Williams did some good things.

We did kick 21 goals on the weekend mind you, so we have no problem up forward. Ox may not kick goals, but the rest do. No room for Robbo Or.

Can you seriously tell me that Williams is better than Robbo? Not even in reserves can Cookie get 4 goals and 14 marks! :p
Don't get me wrong I love him and all but he does suck a bit! :D
