Want to highlight what I felt about the Setanta/Frankling match up. I feel it was a good decision to play Setanta on him and feel that Denis was wrong to take him away from Buddy.
Could have sent the runner out or even dragged him for a minute talk but to take him off him imo was wrong. One of the journos asked Denis about it after the game and Denis just blocked him. The journo had the same observation that I did. Goal 1 Setanta was on the wrong side of the pack [bad decision]. Goal 2 was a mongrel that dropped into Buddy's arms [no fault of Setanta's]. Goal 3 Setanta got down low to meet the ball and fell and Buddy kicked a blinder.[ showed that at least Setanta had learnt from not getting down low a few eeks ago]
Why not leave him there to learn to fight through situations that arise throughout games. It wasn't like he was shot..it was more like Buddy had a hot streak and was assisted by circumstance. Clarkson left Croad on Fev all day and then defended him after the game. Croad imo was less effective on Fev than Setanta was on Buddy. If Setanta had of been caught twice for holding the ball like Croad was then Cartlon some supporters would have stoned him.
Setanta has real ability and Pagan needs to have more faith in this and handle him with more awareness. Our season is shot. Why not really develop players for next year by taking advantage of situations like this.
