rumour is that chris graham may be going to clayton for big $$$ and also the ex best and fairest winner from chelt? any one confirm?
Chris graham Definately signed at Clayton. Big cash
Bert was 6.3 now he is 5.10. Excessive Smoking has caused his sudden decrease in height. Also may have to get his finger chopped off( Daniel chick) after opening up a tinder account.

Collins, Nicholls, Graham and Rowlands......... Good luck with that St Pauls, thats one of the best SFL forward lines in a while. Collo's the shortest at about 6"3.

I'm not a Chelt supporter, but Collins, Nicholls and Rowlands were all key forwards (and good ones) in a Div 1 VAFA side, and are all still young, they were all alot better than Dean Francis at the same club for example. It will be a good yard stick for SFL defences (they are going to struggle...big time).........

Collo, whilst a drunk, is still one of the most talented local players in the state, and up there with James in terms of being able to turn it on. Hawthorn drafted him straight out of the Ammos for a reason....

Collins has some real x-factor and on his day and if he feels like it could tear the comp apart. Rowlands was just an average player in the ammos. If you are referring to Pat Nicholls I don’t think he ever played ‘A’ grade as he was mainly running round in VFL Reserves. Handy but hardly a world beater.

I'm not sure what you've been smoking. Nicholls kicked 2 goals in the 2008 grand final win.........

He also kicked 20 goals from 10 games for North Ballarat 1's at CHF last year, considering the standard of tall defenders in the comp, I'd say he is going to be more than handy.

As for Rowland's, I never called him a world beater, and as you said, he was an OK A grade tall at mentone, which makes him a bloody good one in Southern...... Especially when he's likely to get the 3rd defender.

Yep fair enough. Happy to be corrected. Thought he was playing TAC cup in 2008 and was unaware he played any senior footy at St Bedes. Also had no idea he played that many VFL senior games.

George did kick 40 goals in A Grade ammos as a 20 year old. Not a bad effort I would have thought...

I’m copping it here ! Might have to concede I was off the mark. He was FF in a team that made the GF with some very good mids but agree that is reasonable return. He only kicked 2 goals in 2 outings against my mob and got absolutely toweled up both times, which might have clouded my view

heard from a good source over the weekend that brett collins has only actually signed a half-year contract at chelt.

can confirm that he has been in talks again with box hill hawks, and they're keen for him to play some local footy, with the view of him then returning to the VFL mid-year.

also heard that collins and chris graham had words over the contract agreement at the kingston on saturday night which resulted in graham smashing brett's new iphone up against the tab machine!

Dean Francis is a good get as we needed a tall target. Lost Marcus Freeman to Noble and Matt Freeman o/s but got an onballer from Frankston Bombers and a CHB from Bonbeach. Morgs is a massive loss and leaves us a little light on in the ruck but I would still expect us to be top 3-4 only because there doesn't seem to be a lot of action coming from the teams below last year apart from Chelt.

Just out if interest sake who is the CHB from Bonny?

Any news on lower clubs EM, Heatherton, Clayton? Will the gap between top and bottom be huge again, or have these guys been working to close the gap?

If rumours are anything to go by, then Clayton have picked up some very capable players from within the SFL toplay for them in 2014.

Heatherton have got back a couple from Skye plus a couple more

Haven't heard anything on East Malvern, but they have signed a coach with a very impressive resume that ranges from playing in the Ovens & Murray to playing in premiership in Div 1 EFL & then coaching an Alberton interleague side. So one would imagine he might call on some of his contacts that he's built alliances with of the years to play for him. Its a case of watch this space with East Malvern I'd reckon

More like "poached", Fish...

Why do some clubs insist on raiding other SFL clubs for players instead of trying to improve the league by recruiting from outside and bringing new players into the competition. Its just lazy and does nothing to improve the standard of the competition.

Turn it up ando, you might want to return Pitts to oakleigh then, while your at it I'm sure mordialloc would appreciate Chris graham back considering he trained with them for the whole season while he played at cohuna. Clubs are entitled to recruit whoever they want, no one puts a gun to anyone's head.

Says more on Mordi if he didn't wanna play with you.
I agree with SF that you should try and recruit from outside your league unless someone wants to come up from another club to a div 1 club to better their footy.

You talking about Dingley. I heard they also approached Arvinitis from city.

A few clubs are guilty of it.

To me its lazy recruiting. Each to their own though...
Couldn't agree more Super! To say it's lazy recruiting is being kind. It's absolutely p155 poor. Different thing if a club is approached by a player but to actively seek out others from rival clubs is reprehensible. For those involved they should look outside, after all there is the VAFA, EFL, EDFL, MPNFL but there is a thing called karma and eventually the chickens come home to roost

Yep. BTW Pittsy came to us, we didn't chase him...and we tried to recruit Graham when he left OM's for Cohuna... but lets not let the truth ruin a good story! ;)

Ultimately, the stronger the competition, the more attractive ALL SFL clubs are to potential recruits. By poaching players from other SFL clubs, we are only treading water as a league. Some need to look at the bigger picture and get involved rather than holding everyone else back.

Are you referring to Steve Arvinitis who joined City from OD the previous year. Sorry for speaking to such a 1 club player.

For what it is worth i agree with SF. We have targetted our recruits from outside of the comp. Sure Francis has joined but out of last 10 recruits, i reckon 8 or 9 were from other Leagues. Most of our recruiting is from our own Junior ranks and will continue to be.

In fairness, apparently Francis made the approach so no drama there but history tells us there have been approaches to Williamson and Stewart, East Brighton, Bruno at StKilda City, Dimachki wherever he was, Arvanitis at City after Morgan bailed and at least one from Chelsea Heights so whilst your last 10 recruits may have been kosher it wasn't necessarily by design

Who wouldnt talk to Williamson, Bruno approached us, Mimo was Mimo who had been a Dingley Junior. Morgan is a massive hole to fill and I suppose the boys spoke to all Ruckmen. No knowledge of Stewart or the unnamed CH Player. I would suggest that our club would have very clean hands in this area, certainly against most other SFL clubs.

rumour is that chris graham's old man, john, is pulling on the boots for cheltenham - still fit and could easily slot into a forward pocket with his football smarts and superior kicking.

what a story it would be for a father/son combination to share in premiership glory!

With the 40 man squad announced for inter league anyone keen to give the final squad a guess?
