Corboy Ex Skobs will be a top liner in southern 1. Super get on the eve of the season

Buckley ex Ormond rumour has it ummed and arghed was training most nights, deal put to him was very good and too good to refuse, if you can get that sort of coin you take it, hopefully he has worked on his foot skills and his hamstrings , this comp isn’t D1 amatuers or mid Gippsland.
That was Prem C which would be close , also he only trained 1 night before the practice match just to correct you

Do you also believe in Santa Claus?

Been on the track since early February. He was under their nose for a while Bedford.
I can only tell you what HE told me last Saturday . Trained there pre season last year early while playing at Fish Creek, maybe ask Tom

Tonight, Narre Warren vs Cranbourne, should get a sense if Narre are up to the Elite teams in this Division.

Would expecting to see a reasonably comfortable win, but as it is a local rivalry renewed, both clubs would be pumped up and would not be surprised by the result.

Ex Ormond players Ryhs Kennedy (Luke's brother) and W McCartney playing for St Pauls in their first game this weekend.

Doesn't say much for SNFL standard though when two Div 1 players can walk straight into their side, and one is playing in the Mids.

Both are brilliant lads who have come up through the Ormond junior system.

The coin offered in SNFL is very hard to say "no" to and St Pauls do "splash the cash" as they have a godfather.

Good luck to the boys but a huge loss to Ormond.

The local VAFA teams can't stop all these boys walking away because all they can offer is comradeship and that is a commodity that is worth less and less in the modern world.

Narre won by about 5 goals they were always in control but it was a pretty good game I thought! Narre won’t lose too many games this year!

Can Kennedy and mcccartney play
Maybe their top 4 players for ormend but only bottom 4 players for St Paul’s who play a role

An inaccurate Beena with only 8 players from their premiership team given a bit of a touch up by the All Stars. Better in the 2nd half but will take a few games to learn the level and new group to gel together.

Also Ben Reid took the piss and Keith got flattened by an U/19s, otherwise he was also very good.

All Stars will be top 3….Dingley send out a big statement and Narre show they will be right up there. St Paul’s just get home (don’t think they will make finals) and Port Colts have a magnificent win away from home…don’t usually win too many away. Great opening round and sets it up for an intriguing season.
All Stars vs Narre will be a great match next week!

Narre over possessed the ball at times I thought. At halftime, Narre had dominated all but 10 minutes but only led by 5 goals due to 2 goals in a minute at the death.
They can’t afford to not put the score on the board against Dingley or Cheltenham.

With Colts win over Springy Dist and East Brighton pick ups, it’s going to be a great Division of local footy anywhere in VIC.

Yeah I agree narre wasted it a bit but still won easy could of won by 10+, cranny looked ok at times but thought they looked very easy to play against,

They are already crowing down at the Dingley Dell. Reckon they will almost go through the season undefeated and Caleb Lewis will kick 100. Made the premiers Chelt look like they were running in quick sand. Jack Ferraro is an absolute jet and will be recruit of the year. Feehan, Feeman and the Hypin were amazing.

Port beat Springy in a turn up for the books. Port could be the big smokies this year.

As said East Bentleigh looked as good as possible when they played footy rather than trying to kick the ball backwards.

Narre Warren have made the transtion and look very good on their home ground.

St Pauls hang on against a much improved Bentleigh 94 to 92. Cameron Bedford was magnificent for Bentleigh and well worth the money along with Jack Hastings. Huge crowd and they couldn't get the Demons over the line. For St Pauls Brayden O'Toole and Brad Dolan were the GOALKICKING reinforcements that won them the match. Will McCartney snagged two in a BOG game after coming across from Ormond.

So yes, SNFL is about Div 4 standard VAFA.

Great round! Observation from the 2 games I watched.

Inaccuracy cost Murrumbeena a closer margin but really it didn’t feel like EB got out of second gear. Reid will dominate every week, but remains to be seen how much they play. Both teams maxed out points too. Beena seemed to have a stack of youngsters playing yesterday. They held their own but the size difference and inexperience will be a new challenge. EB looking like serious contenders already.

Bentleigh’s St Paul’s was an early shout for game of the season. Felt like Bentleigh had the Dogs on the ropes all game but some poor kicking at goals from some absolute sitters cost Bentleigh in the end. Kreymborg didn’t play and St Paul’s looked stunned for a lot of that game. Still have St Paul’s making finals on sheer top end talent alone but Bentleigh has probably put other teams on notice.

Surprised with the Port win! How did Sketcher and Martin go?

Hi Bedders, I talked to a lot of me older mates who frequent a lot of the club games and they keep me up in the know.

Surely Bedders, you remember St Pauls in the halcyon days of their last SNFL premiership when they were the East Bentleigh St Pauls Doggies. Now I think they are called the McKinnon St Pauls Doggies, but it is only about 500 yards between the two suburbs, and I would rather remember them for their real name. Remember do it DOGGIE style.

Do u honestly think vafa clubs don’t pay players? 😂 100% all clubs do!

if you are talking VAFA, from the top couple of teams in Prem C up through Prem B and Prem A then sure players get paid, or they get them jobs.

But some of the clubs at the bottom of Prem C and lower, literally work off the smell of an oily rag. If they don't get player subs and have a couple of functions, they go into debt and operate from a dysfunctional loan from the bank, so no way can they pay players, hence they can't keep them either when clubs come calling from leagues like the SNFL who can offer $900 a game.

Thats why clubs like Old Paradians have moved out of the VAFA to the NFNL so they can splash some cash on players and don't have their juniors walk out the door for money.

Brown paper bags all sold out and no jobs for the average Joe's. Vafa players taken them all
