Side note - anyone else find it frustrating that the league doesn't put out those 3-4 minute highlight packages of each game anymore? Was a great way to catch up with all the games in the division and to get a general feel of the match up, players and atmosphere. SFNL has really dropped the ball on that one. Assuming it's a cost-cutting call.

Brilliant reflection on the league with Tom McCarthy and Caleb Lewis both going in tonight's midseason draft. Both were dominant players so great to see them get their chance. Also pegs Dingley back, with both of them technically signed at the den, although only really Lewis hurts enormously so will be interesting to see if they go shopping for a key forward before June 30.

One amateur team that plays in the VAFA has pokies , where's that going

The Socialists in the Labor Govt are going to get rid of pokies soon. They are going to force everyone to have cards & then probably investigate you to see how you could possibly have any money left over to play the pokies after all of their taxes.
It wont belong before some bright spark in the Govt recommends every sporting club in Victoria be forced to pay $1000...
There are approximately 16,000 sporting clubs..

Was a cracking contest up to the half with Dingley and the Doggies but the third quarter Dingley took over and really played a class above which set them up for the win.

All i will say, it is really great seeing the level of competition improve. Makes for great watching as a spectator.

The whole competition is humming along nicely. Every league is competitive and come finals time, I suspect the SFNL will break all attendance records. They just have to make sure they get the right grounds. Well done to the Executive who have worked hard for many years. Clearly the salary cap and points system is starting to work.

Just out of curiosity, why are Oakleigh Districts playing in Div 3 of the Eastern? Their first game of the season was against Silvan. Talk about packing a lunch and a jerry can.

You'll find that articles from ALL leagues are behind the Herald Sun governed Leader Local Footy social pages paywall. Whilst its annoying apparently journalists like Paul Amy need to make a living
