The St Pauls v Bentleigh local derby is going to be huge tomorrow.

St Pauls won a classic last week at Cheltenham with an amazing last quarter behind their un Matty O'brien to prove they are the real deal.

As I said at the start of the season, it looks like it will be St Pauls v Dingley in the grand final.

St Pauls are a proper team and everything that Bentleigh aspire to be. Bentleigh drew at Narre Warren in one of the games of the season and they have done well through their under 19 system whereas St Pauls lost all their under 19s.

Steven Milne is making a cameo appearance for St Pauls in the reserves match which is after the seasons at 4.45 so get down and give him a razz for not going for the ball in the last minutes of the drawn 2010 grand final.

Although by 4.45 tomorrow there might be snow on Mckinon reserve.

Great steamed dim sims and coffee scrolls at St Pauls.

But if they fire up the BBQ there; watch out; because they have been known to put insect repellent on the cooker rather than spray it with oil. So, it is no wonder that the bacon and egg rolls taste so funny.

Jarryd wines playing aswell no fun out at Powelltown?

Only saw the first half but dropped into Springy vs Narre.

Narre looked well off the pace. Smaller, slower, got brushed off the footy a fair bit.

Martin and Sketcher have lost a fair bit of speed and silk since their peak at Noble, but are both clearly such smart midfielders that they make up for it.

How old is George Angel, I remember seeing him at Noble decades ago and I thought he was old then. Still having an impact.

Some of Narre’s kids looked decent but they need size and experience.

Narre not in the Outer East any more.

Yep another club (Narre) that some others thought would come in and dominate from a different league maybe some will start rating the sfnl a bit more than what they did iv lived around these areas for years and they all looked down on the sfnl for years especially Doveton I do have great pleasure in asking them how is it going in the sfnl now

Well done to Beenas Steve Tolongs today on his 250th game in his whole career and kicked the 1st goal
Great call here. Steve was a very well travelled player but seems to have gone home and really been a vital cog in their resurgence. First 3 weeks it looked very ominous for the beena but it seems the coaching staff have got them upto Division 1 speed very quickly with 2 wins and a draw in their last 5 games.
I thought it was going to be a easy win by Chelt so I went to see St Paul’s bentleigh and geez the score doesn’t reflect the game, Bentleighs inability to put the scoreboard pressure on when they had momentum was the difference.
Stating the obvious but Beveridge is a star.
Smart is the most influential player in the league and their is a kid on the wing Fitzsimmons who was very good, I heard he is still under 19s eligible which if true is very impressive

I have it from good authority that Steve still wears his Ormond gear to training

I was present at this game aswell yesterday for 3 quarters. I agree with all above, they are very well coached Springvale , they make the game easy to the spectator eye and for one another on field even the older fellas, age is only a number and even though they are not overly quick they help one another with predictability in game style , that 2nd quarter was as pure as you will see. The other big standout was use by foot and hand, hardly a poor kick of the footy in that first half and the poorer kickers of the ball ensured they looked for a handball to give to ensure possession and flow was maintained, I couldn’t of been more impressed and I reckon they can go deep aslong as they finish in that top 3. Narre have a big bank and won’t be relegated so no doubt their committee will be taking notes and adopting a recruiting drive in the off season, most definitly very light bodied but they have been a fantastic addition to the SFNL , their time will come and the strong junior program they have operating means they will maintain a strong position in division 1 for years to come.

What is going on at the All Stars? That’s 3 on the bounce , can anyone shed some light?? I’ve only seen them once this year at Dingley and that was a great game of football and they bounced out of that and polaxed the Roseallas but 2 heavy defeats and losing to a Port Colts outfit who have somewhat struggled this season since Round 1 was the big surprise of the round and possibly the season

Even 3 in a row
Colts had Clarke back kicking 4

Good contest between the 2 sides, St Paul's just have too much class and ended up running Bentleigh out of the game. The doggies have so many options at Goal at the moment and will be very hard to stop for the rest of the year. Can't wait to see Dingley and them go back at it in the business end of the year! Bentleigh will be around the mark on their day and will beat quality sides this year and potentially see a finals opportunity this year.

Do the dogs have the best talent under the age of 23-24? Beveridge, Hofert (VFL) Hilton-joyce, Purcell (VFL), O'brien (VFL), McCartney ect.

So true, St Pauls have built a future where they will be on top of SNFL for the next ten years. Whoever is their recruiting guru does a great job seeing as they have never had any under 19s.

You can put your glasses down for 2025, it will definitely be a Dingley v St Pauls grand final.

It will be a rip sorter.

Springvale Districts favourites unless Dingoes sign a gun key forward!Best coach in the comp Thompson even though he is a knob!Does the match ups better than the rest!Very versatile and talented playing group!

Having watched both 5 weeks apart , I’ve got to say I think your evaluation is fairly accurate. Springvales ceiling and toughness and skill level is possibly the best I’ve seen this year although the game the way it evolved on Saturday and the way Narre play probably magnified Springvales dominance but they seem have all bases covered. I’m yet to see St.Pauls and Bentleigh but I’ll hope to get them both in the coming weeks and probably got to get to another All Stars game … Cheltenham look as though they may be out of huff and Puff ? But have been the standard setters for a fair while

Talking to a long time St Pauls person , he said the demographic of the area is changing with many Asian and Indian families taking advantage of the reputation of McKinnon SC
