They will be ok. They have a good president, he just needs more help. Too many people in clubs happy to sit back and comment and not put their hand up for jobs. Gone are the days of having 15 general committee members who just talk footy. Need people who provide meaningful input
Same president that gets pissed at games, sits on the fence and hurls abuse at opposition players?? or has he moved on?

Ashwood have probably been keeping an eye on Oakleigh Districts this season in EFNL Div 4 (yes let's call it what it is) & are weighing up whether travelling to the foot of the mountains every other week is really worth risking the future of their club.

FYI Oakleigh Districts are now looking for a new coach are they were beaten by last place last week. Quickly becoming an irrelevant club after leaving the SFNL. Would have been better to stay & maybe have success in SFNL Div 3
Absolutely spot on. Not sure what Oakleigh Districts are thinking by playing in the EFL. I would have thought Ashwood would focus on lifting their club up to higher divisions before moving to the bottom tier of the EFL. They still have to find players and improve their club and build some depth. The EFL has also been a little wobbly with a club in Div 2 folding pre-season resulting in a bye. There are other clubs that are struggling as well like all AFL clubs....but let's celebrate now breaking the $2m barrier. Going to see a lot of very ordinary players start earning $1m per season.

Morning as a neutral observer could you please let me know what parking is like at Mordialloc for div 3 finals. Thanks in advance 😊

Right or wrong Ashwood consider themselves an Eastern suburbs rather than Southern suburbs club. They had a decent crack at establishing juniors but have not been able to consolidate, due in part to a changing demographic in the area and having to compete with the massive Ashy Redbacks for players. Some believe that a shift of comps will help with player retention and attraction. I guess time will tell. SFNL nothing like it as when the ESC and SESFL merged and Ashwood now a bit of an outlier in that part of the world as the comp has moved further to the south/east. So many clubs in the Burwood/Waverley have folded so I guess they are looking at ways to remain viable. Will be very tough.

That’s because their junior parents are only interested in self interest and winning low division SMJFL flags. As soon as their kids get to U/16 level they find other clubs to get under the Oakleigh Chargers eyes

A perennial problem with juniors of every stripe. Parents influence and the pursuit of cheap flags. Not saying the Ashwood plan is rational, although some of the reasons appear sound enough. It’s just what I was told by someone close to the club when the move was first touted last year.
