Absolutely Bearded Clam. Shane always had it but had to get his mind, body and fitness right, and get a bit of experience. He showed a lot of glimpses early, but last year and even a bit before really started to show real quality AFL traits and increased consistency. He has immense speed, agility, great leap and good mark, good skills and awareness and reads the play well. Very hard to match up on expecially when added to the mix of other very talented forwards we now have. It is no wonder that the club rates him very highly. He is now a great all round footballer, complements our other talent there and is, for now at least, very underrated by many. Some of us have rated him publicly for ages so this is far from some sort of naive, rose colored tinted glasses preseason crush or utopian idealism.

Yeah I don’t get hating on McAdam, he does everything you’d want from a small medium forward with a great mark as well. Pressure, speed, skill and natural goal sense. A great compliment to our other forwards.

And in the second quarter against Weagles, he got up the ground to kick the ball out of HBF..

It's been obvious since his first season that he's a FAR better forward than some of our other "forwards" (if you can call them that) like Murphy and McHenry and Rowe and Gallucci and Knight and Jones when he played there

Better late than never ... maybe he can do a JPod (but for us only).

In the Weagles match, I thought Pedlar looked a lot like Rowe..except stronger and better.

At the time it looked like a bad deal for us. We made out like bandits though.

Adelaide: Pick 13 + McAdam + future fifth.

Carlton: McGovern + future third.

The fact that Carlolton gave him a massive $800k a year longterm contract makes it far worse for them..

We got macadam, a first rounder, a lazy underdone player off our list and salary cap space freed up..
for mclovin and a swap of late picks in Carloltons favour..

It was a brilliant win for us.

Mcadam has outperformed mclovin by a mile..

I just had another look at the 2018 draft after pick 16. There aren't many wins at this point outside of Rowbottom and Jordan. You'd take Duursma as well although I'm still not sure what player he'll end up being.

Pretty poor draft outside of the top 7

Who we bid on before taking Jones, Hately was still on the board after that and I'd be super confident we'd have taken him if he was still there at our next pick given we targeted him at the first opportunity!!
 
So this suspension is badly timed for Shane I reckon. We've come off a beating where our forwards were non existent in the 2nd half (the bigger ones anyway). He is 28 this year and has gone through some patches where he looks disinterested in the past. Gollant could take his spot in the best 22 or possibly more concerning for him is we work out that playing Fog, Tex and a resting ruck is enough passengers when the ball hits the deck and we change our structure which will mean he has to wait for Tex to miss a game
