He’s obviously covering a lot more ground than last year at this point in time, if he cramps up from simply sticking in the forward line I might be a bit worried. It’s not a problem for me if he’s making effort to get involved and putting up good performances
Exactly, there’s was a moment in the 3rd I think it was where he was down in defence providing an option

Bumping this as our forward line is much better when McAdam is in it .
Love what he and Gollant bring in combo as far as x-factor and aerial ability . Our team is shaping up quite nicely .
In 2017 we had six genuine forwards who were threats

Getting back towards it thankfully rather than relying on mids who can't squeeze into the centre square and non-statistical types

When McAdam is working hard, great to have him.

Last week's game was one of the best he has played.

I remember Betts said he felt the most dangerous when he was playing up and down the ground.

That was McAdam on Saturday.

Looks leaner and less out of breath.

I reckon Mcadam's put on bulk. I'd bet my bigfooty account on it nearly.

He's definitely fitter though. Its possible to do both, probably not even that hard for someone like him.

What’s the point of this guy? What’s he supposedly meant to bring to the side? X-factor? Nick Gill brought more x-factor than this non event.

Surprised that the last post in this thread was a sledge.

I want to give Shane a big pat on the back for turning into a very handy player, who is no longer just a 1 trick pony.

His defensive pressure is immense. He uses it well, and that burst of speed vs WCE was a thing of beauty. He is team first. If he can continue to bring the heat to every contest, and still be a dangerous alternative target up forward, he's locked into the FWD 6 for the year.

Although he's no spring chicken, I think he should still have at least 3-4 years in our side, and may well continue to improve through this time.

He brings a point of difference..

We have tex and fog that are similar size and players..
We have himm and TT again similar size and type..
We have rachele and rankine as our two main smalls and Pedlar whos breaking the door down to join them.

Then we have Mcadam who isnt a tall and also isnt a small..

He’s in the middle and he plays tall and small.. due to his unbelievable leaping abilities.

He leads strongly, is quick and agile and his set shot kicking for goal is very reliable these days.. was a bit iffy in his first couple of seasons.

A criminally underated, and very important, cog in our current forward line.

With murphy, mchenry and rowe either gone or on the outer.. and replaced with rankine, rachele and pedlar it means opposition defenses are gonna be well and truely stretched..

mcadam will get a lot less attention than he has the past two or three seasons.. which bodes well for us because he’s the type that can do alot of damage if let loose and free to just attack the ball.

yep our forward line has a 2017 feel about it, as far as sheer number of genuine goal scoring options goes. McAdam serves as a great P.O.D, and like you said, will benefit (just as McGovern did) from not being anywhere near the focal point. More like the 4th/5th wheel

betts - walker - Mcgovern
lynch - JJ - cameron

rankine - walker - mcadam
rachele - fog - pedlar/keays

Not quite there yet in terms of sheer output, but its younger and has more upside.

Throw in Thilthorpe drifting forward too.

He seems to be good for a couple of goals a game, and generally doesn't suck in regular play.

Which... is A grade for his position.
His field kicking is high quality too. Loved that pass to Fog in the first quarter on Friday.

I must have missed Gollant’s aerial ability …… Fogarty has it, McAdam has it, even Himmelberg and TT have it, but Gollant jumping for the ball without even touching it …. yeah nah! Maybe I missed too much SANFL?

Wait, is he good now?

We’re not reading into stuff from pre-season again are we? How good was Sellar in Dubai, can’t wait to see him strut his stuff!
???….

He was good for a for large chunk of last year too..

Said no such thing.

Just my recollection is that your posts are mostly sledges of McHenry, Jones, Nicks, etc.
Sholl is disgraceful. Look at him just standing there. What an absolute disgusting player.
Cook is so weak, wow.
(Jones) Absolute spud, zero football IQ. Delist.
(McHenry) Disgusting player, just putrid.
etc.

Yep, that pass was perfect..to the right spot enabling Fog to push-off his opponent (Barrass was it?)… so good they replayed the pass 4 or 5 times (rather than Fog’s goal) 😍
