This bloke earned alot of respect today :thumbsu:

He is obviously carrying a pretty serious injury to his right leg as he can't kick on it at all.

What he did in the dying minutes of the game, the side 15 goals up, was inspirational. He had to go and many, including myself, didn't think he had it in him.

But he put his body on the line and copped a nasty knock to the head.

He is often maligned and has been called soft, but he deserves credit.

And to hear the reception he got when he was coming off the ground after that knock, fantastic to hear!

Well done OB, keep up the good work :p

I for one stood up and clapped him off and gave out a loud congratulations from across the stadium. And it was very good to hear the reception he got when he came off with that blood rule.

What he did should personify the Magpie spirit and inspire others around him to act in the same way as well as realise the other 21 boys they play with bleed for this jumper they wear.

Well said, this poor little bugger has been tagged for years in an ordinary midfield and cops shit week in and week out. Stuff his miskicks his a little goer and always has been.

I agree, to put your head over the ball like that when your side is 90 pts up and with a few minutes to go was just fantastic. SOB has been maligned by most on this board, but he is playing good footy at the moment and he showed yesterday just what this team is about and how they are playing to really achieve something special this year. Well Done SOB!:thumbsu:

I see O'bree in the same light as Ling from Geelong.
When their teams are playing well they look great, but when their teams are not performing well in general they look terrible.
When a team plays badly it kinda shows how many passengers they have.
Don't get me wrong these 'passengers' can end up playing Grand Final footy as they can be important when the team is up and about, but lets not get too excited with O'bree.

Games like that go a long way to winning more respect from the harsh fans for the likes of R Shaw, O'Bree and Bryan. Just like the Geelong and WC games you want to see tham back it up week in, week out :thumbsu:

I'll be honest and say after a loss im partial to a bit of O'Bree bashing, however I have never questioned his endevour on the footy.

O'Bree is a decent footballer, however he is so frustration when thing's are turning pear shaped.

Hear Hear!
have never doubted his commitment to the Pies.
Always seems to be an easy target when we aren't playing well.

Kudos Cheesey.

I disagree with almost all of you, OB is possibly the hardest worker week-in/week-out. When we are motoring he shows up with the eye-catching stats but when we are getting pumped he just works his a**e off. In and under, chasing, tackling, shepherding etc. The courage that he showed yesterday is IMHO not unusual in fact I reckon it's typical.

A fitting tribute to a fine oul warrior of the tribe of O'Bree. Here he is getting someone in a vice-like grip.:thumbsu:

There was a lot more to his game yesterday than just the hit but it was certainly the icing on the cake.

I look forward to the day that SOB is no longer part of our best 22 as it would indicate that we're fielding a pretty awesome midfield.
As of now though, he is a part of our midfield and performing a role that not too many of our players can.
Kudos to OB.

That rubbish about an injury to his right leg is crap. He's preferred kicking on his left foot for many years now. It's not something new. He's required as we do not have a player like him with better skills. Hopefully the likes of Wellingham and McCarthy and Dyas in the VFL can replace him. He is and always will be a decent and handy AFL player. He has good footy smarts, with average skills and has been particularly important for us given we have lacked quality inside midfielders for a while.

So, you are saying that he is not carrying an injury to his right leg?

Now, I say you are talking crap my friend.

Granted, he does kick well on his left foot (prob better than his right), but previously, if he had a set shot for goal, he would kick with his right.

Presently, if he has a set shot even from 40 metres, he is looking to handball it.

Anyway, injury or not, well done Cheesy :D

i dont think his hard, when he had the long curly hair he was hard but dropped off then he started growing the mo with steinford but played well

Hair cut induced softness?
By coincidence my Father-in-law (life long Piesman) and I watched the 2003 Prelim v Port....Guess who but Chessey sporting the long fleece was playing well, I would say about the same as Saturday to be honest and just as hard/soft (however you see it) as he normally does. My vote is on hard.
Funny how many we have turned over since then.
Scotland, Kinnear, Cole, J.Cloke etc.
And Port should have been called "Port feat Essendon" they had so many ex-Dons in there.
