Strange Poll. All very different players.

Would go Toovey although he's probably the least talented and athletic of the lot. Nevertheless he'd be the only one I'd want on our list.

Yeah I chose the players because they all add similar value to their teams. None are stars. All float around just being in bottom 6 of the 22.

This isn't to settle an argument or anything.

Sherman, he might end up being a decent mid before he's done and he would have decent currency on the trade table, Toovey and Ray wouldn't have a lot IMO, wouldn't lose sleep over any of them TBH though.

Toovey for mine. Honest player and while not the best is fairly consistent from what i have seen of him.

Was happy to see the back of Sherman. No defensive game at all and a bit of a ******** based on his comments when he left the lions. If he was a real attacking weapon you could look past his lack of defensive game but he doesn't get enough of the pill and his disposal under pressure is terrible. Happy the dogs took him off our hands.

I honestly forgot Sherman existed until he got done for racial vilification.

Happy the dogs took him off our hands.

Bitter tears. Sherman would still easily be best 22 for Brisbane.

26 disposals and a goal vs the Lions. A bag of 4 goals vs Freo in Perth early in the year, and a couple of bags of three.

He had a decent year considering his suspension and injury worries which hampered him. Still averages 15 disposals and a goal a game.

And three tackles a game, not bad for someone mainly playing up forward. He does have a defensive game.

I would not have him in our best 22, If he was in it he would certainly not easily make it.

Of course he would, we only won 4 games for the year. Plenty of room for passengers at the moment.

But he isn't the sort of player you miss. Rischitelli yes...Sherman... nah. Eminently forgettable. Will never top his second season, and is too one much of a one-way player to have serious impact in the modern game.

As for bitter tears... save it for the bay.

Shermans stats for 09 were borderline elite, 20+ disposals and kicked 30 goals, i'm guessing he played as a HF/Mid?, if he can get back to that form he walks into any team in the comp.

Edit, the Krak averaged 15 and kicked 35 this year playing as a Mid/HF and most say he had a solid if not good year.

Your analysis there seems to conflcit quite heavily with your assessment of Rockliff in another thread.

You seem to pick, choose and interpret statistics at your convenience.

Why's that?

Fact is if Sherman was still a lion you'd be outraged by this comparison.

Why's that?

Sherman has a decent season as an outside midfielder running one way in 2009 in a finals bound side and he is "borderline elite".

Rockliff averages significantly more touches and tackles and wins much more of his own ball in a struggling side and he is apparently an overrated 5th string midfielder.

Prefacing ill-informed personal opinions with "Fact is" doesn't make it so.

Sherman won a lot of fans (including me) early by taking game on and being a pretty impressive attacking player, but over time he simply stagnated and didn't develop into a complete footballer. He will look flashy and exciting as an outside player in a functional midfield, but when a team slides down the ladder, he will vanish. A good team makes him a better player. But it doesn't work the other way around for him. He is Didakesque, but not anywhere near as skilled.

Trying to paint mbe as being bitter is trollish at best. I am more than happy to give credit to former Lions. Rischitelli is missed. He is a team player who is more than happy to do the team stuff and is the type of player who still adds value in a team that is struggling. You will struggle to find any Lions fans who were bemoaning the lack of Sherman this year. He would have been utterly ineffectual in our side this year.

What is it with you and Rockliff?

Answer this, would Rockliff be a starting Midfielder for a top 4 team?

Does the fact that Rockliff wouldn't be a starting Midfielder for a top 4 team mean he's better than a top 4 teams 4th or 5th midfielder? fact is Rockliff wouldn't be any closer to breaking into a top 4 teams permanent midfield anymore than Sidebottom/Beams/Wellingham, but, because your team doesn't have the Swans/Pendleburys/Balls/Thomas's he is able to get more midfield time and you think he's better than those mentioned because of it, if we gave our second string boys permanent midfield time their averages would increase dramaticly

Fact is mate, if Rockliff played for us he could struggle to get a game, and i'm not trolling, just being realistic, same goes for if he was recruited by another top 4 team, you gave him midfield time because you're a developing team, top 4 teams are already developed and the young mids must wait their turn, it's no coincidence you're a bottom 4 side playing 2 kids as permanent mids.

Yes.

And would shit it in ahead of Justin Sherman circa 2009.

Do me a favour. In 2012, put down the stat sheet and the Dream Team guides and watch some footy. I reckon you'll enjoy the experience.

I'm done here. Enjoy!

So who do we drop to play Rockilff as a starting mid?, Swan? Pendlebury? Ball? then we have probably the best wingman in the game in Thomas who can also play as a permanent mid, who do we drop BD?

Fact is if he did get a game he would have to play HF/Mid like our other second stringers, if you think he would average 28 playing that role you simply aren't worth talking too.

Rockliff's output to date = Beams/Wellingham and greater than Sidebottom, Fasolo, Blair, Krakouer.

He would get a game in our rotating midfield. In any for that matter. No he wouldn't push out Swan, Pendlebury, Thomas or Ball, most players wouldn't... But he would push out any one of our 2 tier mids.

Toovey, he's like Presti only shorter and faster.
