"Slow" start to the year? He has been terrible. I think 14 possessions total in 2 games and none of them inside the forward 50.

You are right. For one of the greats of the game he has been poor. Considering he has had numerous shots for goal I would suggest he has had a few possessions inside the forward 50.

He is playing up the ground like he did in his devastating 2nd half of last year to utilise his great fitness levels and skills. We are trying to develop our forward line and give guys like Neagle, Ryder and Gumbleton games up forward.

If Lloyd wants to remain captain next year I can guarantee he will be. If his current form continues he probably won't be playing AFL next year.

Hopefully there is a clash against the Eagles soon

Pretty decent all things considered. Seems we have had the better run over the last 5 years.

What must be pointed out is that we were much like the rabble you currently are in 2006 so it would have been a monumental disaster if the eventual premiers of 2006 couldn't defeat a sorry Essendon team. With young talent on every line now the future is bright and we won't go back to those dark days for almost a decade. Enough time to weather the draft storm that will be created by the new expansion teams.

I like it Juddy, but perhaps a compromise.

Lets relegate them to the WAFL until West Sydney enters the competition, thus eliminating the bye when West Sydney comes in.

Giving them a couple of years in a state league might allow them some success and they might return to the AFL confident and better than ever.

A problem arises though if they get flogged every week in the WAFL, which is all reality is the most likely scenario... thus making them worse than before upon their arrival.

Perhaps removing them altogether is the better option.

I think that is hardly fair on the WAFL, although it would give teams like Peel 2 certain wins a year.

Take this thread for instance. When GC come into the comp they won't even be competing at the same level, just the under 18s. That will actually have more negative impact on west coast than Fremantle, because I hear Adam Selwood is already salivating at the prospect of becoming an "assistant" at the new club.
