Give me Chris Judd any day of the week for all sorts of reasons - not just the obvious on-field ones. Eagles weren't going to deal without JK. We had no LEADER, now we do! Simple as that. :D:thumbsu:

I never wanted to lose Josh, but honestly, i'm happy he's gone.

He's doing at WC what he couldn't do at Carlton, and that is play good football. I'm damn happy that he's there, because he's playing well and making a name for himself, and I reckon' he just needed a change of scenery to bring out his best.

Well done Josh:thumbsu:.

What he couldn't do at Carlton under Pagan's development.

Under Ratts he showed a lot more and no doubt if he had been on the list this year with our new couching/development staff he would have further improved.

I know we recruited Kruezer primaraly as a Ruckman who can go forward. But what are other supporters thoughts on developing Kruezer as a full time CHF?

Big boy who can take a grab and seems very mobile from the few games I've seen him play.

Could he be a Rewolt type CHF for us?

If so would that be more value to the team or groom him to be predominantly a ruckman?

..with 2 other promising rucks-Hampson and Asake on our list it may be the best "fit" for the team long term...

thoughts?

Should we have kept JK? Hell no. The Judd trade was the rebirth of this club.

Do we need to put a heavy emphasis on drafting forwards in this year' draft, both to replace Fev down the track, and to provide second and third options up forward in the meantime .... hell yes!!

You weren't around at the time (BF) but can you honestly say you would have been against taking Judd? Or is this just another 20/20 hindsight effort?

To be perfectly honest, it was the other way round for me. Leading into trade week, I wasn't sure I wanted the club to part with both Kennedy and pick 3 - now, having seen Judd in the navy blue, I'm perfectly fine with the decision. After all, what good is it having Kennedy up forward if our midfield can't get the ball up there in the first place?

Definitely a good idea at this stage to put him at CHF. Could be hard to match up on as he's very mobile and is good at ground level too.

Oooops - sorry I just had to lift myself off the floor after laughing so hard at the riduculous statement.

I actually was a JK supporter when he wore the navy blue (and I still wish him all the best at WCE) but you cant be serious about not being happy to have Judd???

Judd is going to get better, he is going to help develp teh youn kids around him as tehy now have a role model to follow. Not a Straunchiee Stevo, Campo, Big Red etc.

His value is not just on the field (even though we want him to rip each week) he is the face of Carlton for members, sponsors, corporate dollars etc.

I am just going to assume that you were taking the piss out of us, good work I took it hook line and sinker.

riewoldt is shit he will be the new matthew kruezer :D (40 millioin times better than riewoldt)

No and i didnt say that.

Just my opinion mate arent we allowed to say what we think or is it just the vets that think they know it all?

Obviously judd is a great player but he has no-one to kick it too, and another KPP forward would go a long way to making us a better looking outfit.

If you were not saying that what were you saying?

Seems to me that Judd has Fev and Fish to kick to (even Eddie sometimes, the way he is presenting LOL) and maybe Kruise or Hammo in the future or whoever else we can pick up or develop. I am perfectly happy. :)

Fisher averages less than 1.5 goals a game. We need a second forward who averages better than 2 per game if we are ever going to be a threat. Betts averages even less than Fisher so it is pretty obvious that we need an avenue apart from Fev and these two to goal.

Fisher averaged better than 2 goals a game last year.

Well as long he continues that for the remainder of his CAREER he might get his overall AVERAGE up to 2 or better. However at this point in his career and without the luxury of a crystal ball we have to saitsfy ourselves with the facts as they stand. Over 75 games of his carrer he averages 1.3 goals per game. Hardly the stats of a key forward.

I understand what you are saying, but in Fisher's defence he was pretty skinny in his first 2-3 years and copped his fair share of injuries in that time.

Looking at his "career" stats is misleading somewhat, as he only really came into his own last year where he kicked 39 goals (in 18 games) and looked a much more developed and mature player than in his first 4 years.

Could have kicked 50 if he played all 22 games IMO. If he can stay fit don't think it is out of the question that Fisher can be a 40+ goal a season KPP player for us as the 3rd tall after Fev and a CHF(Kruezer for mine)

What he couldn't do at Carlton under Pagan's development.

Under Ratts he showed a lot more and no doubt if he had been on the list this year with our new couching/development staff he would have further improved.

He played 2 games under Ratts, Round 21 & 22 & had 11 disposals in both games & kicked 1 goal in both games. In his last game under Denis Pagan's coaching he had 15 disposals, 7 marks, 4 tackles & 7 hitouts. JK showed no more under Ratts than he did under Pagan. In fact his game this weekend for the Eagles was very similar to his last game under Pagan. Do we now say he plays better under Worsfold, than under both Pagan or Ratts? Of course not. JK struggled to have an impact at Carlton for no other reason than the fact he was a raw, KP forward who had been limited by injury & was developing at a similar pace to what we have seen so far with Lachlan Hansen & Scott Gumbleton. It had nothing to do with who his coach was.

Don't see him as a key forward - simply saying he is another Judd target.
He averaged 2 last year, with our improving midfield I reckon he should be able to maintain that - have a look at our TEAM OF THE CENTURY, Soapy at FF, only one to average 3gl
:)

It seems to me that keeping JK would have been good for us granted we may not have got Judd but i think the key to having a good side is too good KPP.

If we kept JK and then drafted another KPP player early we would have a stronger and young forward line.

Hawthorn did a similar thing drafting buddy and roughead and it has payed off (an understatement) and i think doing the same would greatly help our squad?

Would any one consider trading fev at the end of the year for either a young KPP forward or an early draft pick and then picking another KPP with our first pick?

Seems this could be a way to go? Something similar to w/c with mckinley and JK.

Any thoughts?
Plain stupidity

And if you still don't understand how hard it is for anyone other than the FF to average over 2, you have to realize that Sticks coming close was only due to him playing some FF. Robert Walls, CHF, twice CFC leading goalkicker and 'Hall of Famer', did not average 2 for his career. You have to get an appreciation of history Matt and maybe you will appreciate our current players more - visit www.blueseum.org

Unfortunately JK had to go, and that was the deal.

We should have let Pfeiffer go in the PSD and picked up Scott Welsh to give us some security and another goal kicking option.

It is high time that we realise that Hartlett unfortunately is injury prone, we need to look at other options.

Alternatively Geelong had hamstring issues with Rooke I am sure, and sent him to Germany to fix the problem, maybe we need to do the same.

We should be looking heavily at KPP layers not only in the nationl draft, but WAFL, SANFL, VFL and other teams, Fev needs help, not too mention a small crumbing forward.

I wouldnt mind at all to see Kreuzer play CHF.Only but if Aisake and Hampson step up as ruckmen. I remember reading reports about Aisake that sounded a bit like Kreuzer, that he is a ruckman who follows up his ruckwork and becomes like an extra midfielder.Hopefully he can stay injury free and show us what his got.
In regards to Kennedy.Well as much as I would have liked him to stay and prosper his gone now and in return we have the comps best player. You have to give a little to get a little.

Both McKinley and Kennedy are third year players, under your plan we would have a ? year and a first year player or two first year players with a better than average chance that neither would make it - those are the facts of the draft (very few come with a 'sure thing' guarantee)
I am a big Ben fan but like Kennedy, he is a long way off having made it yet.
