Should we play Haddin in the WC?

Serious question... ground fielding and catching is a crucial component of a ODI batsman's skillset these days.

Jacques cost the match dropping McMillan in Auckland as an example.

Dunno, I dont care if we just have a sub fielder the whole time. England do it.

If Haddin is decent in the field (I remember Gilly dropping a few as a fielder) then I think it is a pretty good idea. However I can't see it happening for the World Cup, because Hayden is scoring enough runs to keep his spot, and they won't drop Gilly.

If i was picking the team i'd go with:

Gilly
Watson - very good opener, better than selfish Hayden.
Ponting
Clarke
Hodge
Hussey
White / Symonds - fitness pending
Hogg
Lee
Bracken
McGrath.

So no, i wouldn't play Haddin, unless of course Gilly isn't playing. If you want to pick someone purely as a late order hitter, may as well play White for that role, so we don't have two keepers in the XI for lack of any other reason.

Of course White should be given the arse as soon as Roy is fit to play.

Roy is in the squad, not White.

If Roy is not fit before the Super 8 then he can be replaced, probably by White.

You cannot substitute players in and out of the squad at will.

Completely forgot about that, i guess with no White then that leaves Haddin the other option as the #7.

So my answer is now yes.

seems to be in the form of his life, if and I say if he dispays some form iun the opening rounds at the WC it may make it difficult for the selectors to drop him.
