Was very impressed with his game today. 27 touches, 6 marks, 2 goals, 2 goal assists and 8 inside 50's was an awesome effort, and should see him gain a Rising Star nomination.

With Varcoe more than likely out for the season, it would be good to see Hogan given every chance to take over his role in the finals.

Maybe if Swift didn't go off.

I want him in for finals though. Drop Gamble and Stokes for Johnson and Chappy if they're fit.

This kid is going to be a gun, if he isn't already. Can't wait to see him develop over the next 2-3 years!

His 2 goals in just a few minutes had me on my feet. I am a massive Hogan fan so really liked his work today. Didn't think he had quite that many touches but apparently all his efforts added up. When he was dropped last week i didn't think he would get back into the side this year but i am very glad he did. Apparently Varcoe is a chance to return next week as is Chappy so i think he may lose his spot. Although he has been more use than Stokes and Gamble combined.

I love the kid.

Before the season i said he would be in our best 22 by years end and would be a 10-year footballer, and i standy by it.

He's going to be a beauty.

He has been exceptional this year. I had a few queries over him when we drafted him, but he has gone on to prove me well and truly wrong. He has improved out of sight compared to the skinny little bloke that ran around at the Falcons.

Will be a 200 game player IMHO.

His first few games were pretty quiet but it seems like the last few times he's been out there he has racked them up. I like the way he goes about it, he keeps the ball moving and doesn't mind a shot at goal - and is a pretty kick by the looks of it. Definitely a good find for us and I wonder whether we'll want to keep him in the mix for a finals berth. It's good to see him step up and take his chance.

Like to see him pick up his contested work and tackling next year. He obviously doesn't have the body size for it yet but hopefully he has a big preseason driven by the realistic chance of becoming a regular. Could be a very good player for us.

He has bulked up a fair bit since he was drafted and i am sure come next season he will have bulked up quite a bit more. He currently reminds me of Selwood when he first debuted. Selwood bulked up a fair bit in the off seasons going from 07-08 and 08-09 turning form a boy to a man pretty much and i am sure the same will go for Hogan.

Damn it, someone tell him to stop playing well - I wanted to pick him up in the trade season. Really rate him. I believe he's too old for a RS nomination, however.

Very promising player. Just needs to keep working on his foot skills , he just needs to look at Tenace to see what happens when you don't develop in this area. Someone will come along and take your spot. He is certainly not bad but he is no Rich either. If he can start to kick goals on the run thru 60-40 he will be become a must pick GFC player

Yeah I think he was about 65kg's when drafted so he must of put on about 10-12kg already which is a pretty good effort. He's looks to be on the verge of a breakout season like Selwood was but he's nowhere near as hard at it as Selwood. As good as Hogan looks he's not nearly as well rounded as Selwood either.

Only just turned 21 so he's eligible (needed to be under 21 at the start of the year)

Could be a useful 'under the radar' type for the finals Other teams could be cought out in their planning if we throw him into the mix Likes the goals and has a good football head

I'm a huge rap for Hogan

But does anyone else think he looks a bit like McLovin?

That my friend is an EXCELLENT call!!! God now I'm going to think that every time I see him.

I reckon he's in our best 22. He's a good, penetrating kick, and he's not afraid to back himself.

Here's McLovin, a 25-year old Hawaiian organ donor.

Sweet.

I'll second that. I was able to watch live on Saturday and he impressed. A lift to his tackling/contested will come as he gains confidence. I did notice him defer a few times to more senior players when he could have received the ball so his possession stats could have been quite a bit higher. His big motor was on display for all to see.

Taken at a featherweight 68kg with the Cats' fourth round pick at the end of 2006, Hogan has since added about 11kg to a frame that is finally able to cope with the stresses of an AFL workload.
He said adding 8kg when he first arrived at the club probably contributed to a persistent groin injury last season, but is finally starting to feel the advantages of the extra muscle.

That is a quote from the advertiser earlier on in the season so yeh he has put on a fair bit of muscle. And i wasn't comparing him to Selwood in other categories other than simply his body size. Selwood will always have the advantage and a fair bit of that would be from having so many more games. They are the same age taken in the same draft yet Hogan has only played 9 games where as Selwood has played 67. I do realize the size when he was recruited added to that but now that he is playing at the top level he will find it easier to improve on his faults.
