Does anyone else think he is AA form?

Or is it just me?

I think he has been close to/if not the best backman in the league this year.

Seems he has gotten EVEN better with age, he is our number one backman, and close to our most important player.

Anyone else here agree?

His stopping ability is unrivaled

But as a massive presti fan, dont get your hopes up for AA it will go to a defender who may not defend as well but rebounds fantastically, just like 06 how he wasnt AA that year still beggars belief especially given the fact Bowden was

Yes, he's such a powerful ball-denier, and he's so cool about it. Has he even been better than Scarlett this year?
Yes I think he has been alot better than Scarlett.

I havn't seen many Geelong games, but from the ones that I have, Scarlett hasn't really seemed that good.

He has been pretty average this year from what I've seen, and I tend to over-rate defenders, because I have a soft spot for them, knowing that their job is the hardest in the game at the moment with all the rediculous free kicks that can be given away.

I think the idea he has gotten better with age is a little off. He has had a fantastic career. Close to the best defensive full back in the last decade.
as a straight out stopping defender he is the best full back

too many remember his injury riddled performance in 07 and forget how much of a star defender he ws for us in 06 and our GF years 02 and 03, even the horrible years 04 and 05 while he was fit he was very good

Thats why I said EVEN better in capitals, because he was bloody brilliant before his comeback late last year aswell. For some reason he seems like he is better because this year I've seen him weave through players, sell the dummy a few times, and it seems as though he has added something extra to his game............a LITTLE bit of flair.

well he is was the AA under 18s CHF the year we drafted him

But yes he is getting more involved in rebound this year, he would have career high stats at the moment

And of its nature the least glamorous. But I think Presti's changing that with his dark, brooding demeanour and his panther-like, stalking dander.:p

Too true. He is such an nonchalant player. Defensively he has been better than Scarlett but I best keep it on the down low, otherwise Last Line Hero will do my head in. :D

Actually he was averaging over 8 disposals a game from '98 through to '00, this year he is averaging 7.5 disposals so he isn't quite averaging career high numbers but they're certainly alot flashier (for him) than previous years.

Along with Hudghton is one of the most under rated stoppers of the decade.

It'll be a sad day when he retires, how long does everyone think he has left?

He can certainly go on next year imo.

Really? that is surprising

Ah well we need him to kick another goal we do

A timely question to ask given todays Sun.
Sheahan must have had nothing much to think about yesterday.

I don't agree with him but many will.

Definitely in AA form this year. Stopping your opponent is your main role and he's done it better than anybody else, including Scarlett, who obviously gets a lot more from his teammates because Geelong are so good on every line.

I'm sure the AA committee can find room for both Scarlett and Presti with one of them selected in the back pocket on the "third tall" or on the bench.

Has he had a brilliant season so far, yes.

Is he in AA form, no. This is quite simply due to the AA selection panel rewarding offensive skill before defensive skill. He simply doesn't get enough of the ball to be recognised by this group of individuals.

It's like the debate surrounding Brett Kirk a couple of years ago and whether a tagger should be in the side.

Yep. Incidentally, I'd love to see Brown get a bit more of it and let fly with that booming kick of his more often.

or to a chad cornes at CHB who doesnt even defend

I would think at the moment that Scarlett and Presti will both get the nod in the AA side. Both have been fantastic this year.

Agree with this.
I think he has always been a brilliant stopping defender but he usually only played on the stay at home or lead up full forwards, these days he is playing on the best tall forward..period.

He was always good at stopping his man but it's taken him a long time to be completely assured when in possession, he was a boring stopper. This year he is starting to play with ATTITUDE which is giving him more confidence in the other areas of his game and is becoming a genuine star defender. He has EASILY been the best fb in the league this year....And somehow is improving.
