Reading this thread convinced me to get this game- so i went and bought it today :D

Only lv 3 and on the early quests... I'm having a little trouble with the controls. I can't seem to move fluently or fast enough in combat and get creamed in some situations.

Any tips guys? Like what camera view is best, or a particular key setup?

if it's PC change the mouse sensitivity. it was one of the first things i had to do.

you might need to soften them up before they reach you, ie a bow or some magic before you start swinging. i think the difficulty is set at adept to start with, maybe can change that as well.
also you're free to take potions in the middle of a fight.

Thanks mate! It was the look sensitivity that i had to change. I ramped up the speed and now it's a lot better- i can turn around fast enough to face enemies before they kill me.

Started off with an Elf that uses a bow... But have just discovered the power of spells. I'll keep with this bow/magic hybrid but may be tempted at restarting the game and creating a proper mage. Loving it!:D

I gave up trying to marry Lisette. :(

Yeah, I've tried her as well, but I think she is a no go.

Here is a list of (so far) confirmed NPC marriage options:

I'm thinking about one of the Priestesses like Orla ( and see what's under the hood), but drawback is they don't leave the temple (and read somewhere that they stay in they robes :( )

Ok, this is insane.

I just entered Falkreath for the first time at level 32, the problem is, 2 Elder Dragons (Bronze) always spawn in the area and absolutely destroy me. After several tries, I beat them both, 90% of the town is wiped out, so I keep feeling prompted to try again. I even brought a Heavily Armored Lydia and Summon Frost Atronach and they still wipe out nearly everyone.

i went to falkreath at lvl10 and there was only one dragon and it was killed mostly by the guards. i scammed the soul at the end.

I think the "Forbidden(?) legend" quest is glitched for me.
I'm currently trying to get the 3rd part of the amulet. It's the place where you drop down the whole into the water.
Anyway, I'm up to a section where there are 2 draw bridges, they are in the up position so I can't get across.
There is a lever right there but nothing happens when I activate it (except for the booby trap). So i can't get across.
Lucky i saved it before i entered too because you can't go out because you have to drop down the hole.

Has this happened to anyone? does anyone know how to fix this???
I might go back later and see if that fixes it.

Have hit level 50 and 75% the way through acheivments. The one I'm struggling with us attaining 100k gold.

I have over 480 carry capacity and in my house in Whiterun is full of weapons armor and scrolls I can sell but I'm struggling to find people to sell it all to. Most NPC have 1000-1500 and I have got my speech up to 75 and have invested 500 gold with a few vendors but I hate how I can sell 1 weapon and then they are out of money and have to wait 24hrs before they have more money.
I have a mace that's worth 2500 and I also can't find with anyone enough to purchase it.

There should be a second lever just to left(or behind?) the one that sets off the spikes.

Currently level 26 and haven't lost a follower up to now until I lost 2 in quick succession, feelsbadman ;(

Where can I get followers? I have used Lydia, but she got killed by a Draugr Wright.

I highly recommend doing the Gauldur Amulet missions. It took me quite a while, but as a reward you get The Gauldur Amulet, which gives you 30 extra Health, Magicka and Stamina points while you're wearing it. You have to clear 3 dungeons and fight a boss in each, and then you have to fight all three in succession again at the end of the mission.

An easy one is if you go get the family shield for Roggi in kynesgrove.

Complete the thieves guild quest line. you get access to a heap of fences and they all have $4000 gold.
Also, alchemy is a great way to make gold. im making potions worth over 2000 gold ATM.

Complete the thieves guild including becoming the TG master.

In the ragged flagon there are 4 vendors with ~1500 gold and then the main chick with 4000
Get the perk that you can sell anything to anyone (great perk imo) and off you go, have sold nearly everything in the ragged flagon due to the ease, have 180 000 gold .... that's without selling all my good stuff, have at least 10-15,000 golds worth in my chest.

Aha, thanks.
I guess I'll have to let the Skeleton key go. :( I have been holding off going to the twighlight sepulcher and being doing every other quest to use the key for awesome treasure. I have finished the mages guild, companions, dark brotherhood and nearly finished the main quest. I have got my main quest list down to 8 so I may aswell finish the Thieves guild if I want the 4000 gold at the vendors.

....

They're heaps scattered about the place! Within Whiterun there is:

- Dark Elf girl in The Drunken Huntsman.
- warrior girl in The Bannered Mare
- plus IIRC 1 or 2 Companions will follow you.

***** arrow 2 the knee is never going to end you know ?

I used to say I took an arrow to the knee like you, then I took an arrow to the knee.

UPDATE: after a few days 'off' or withdrawl symptons setting in, I pumped in about 20 hours over the weekend, so here is where I'm at ATM and some random thoughts/tips:

- Level 42 and about 90 hours played.
- Bought (and dec'd out) 2 other houses (aside from Breezehome): Solitude (huge house for 25k) and Windhelm (for 12k... not happy about its history though).
- About 90,000g now.
- Completed the Companions quest line (NOTE: if you wish to "cure" yourself be sure to have 2 witches heads, after using the 1st head to cure the spirit to complete the quest, use another head to cure yourself... if that is what you want).
- Took the AttK with Njada (companion) after completing the Companions quest line and she's now living with me in Whiterun (not my biggest house, but my most visited).
- Smithing is now 100... WOOT... so made myself a full set of DragonScale armor... it looks so cool. Also made a full set for Njada who is now my follower (as well as Wife).
- Did a few more "Shrine" quest lines... cool.

NEXT
- 1st will focus on the StormCloak and TG quest lines.
- then complete the WinterHold quest line.
- by then I will probably be around level 50-55 and will look to complete the Main quest line.

Tips/Thoughts
- HIGHLY recommend finding "Shrines" and doing their quests... some of the best quests I've come across and great rewards. NOTE: Shrine map icons look very similar to Dwarven Ruin map icons, but there are subtle differences.

- Dwarven dungeons look majestically awesome.

- Always carry a pickaxe... often frustrating finding a mining node whilst exploring, but not having you pickaxe.

- They need to make mining easier/shorter. The animation takes too long. It is fine for one-off nodes, but boring/frustrating when you have multiple nodes about you.

- Don't spend perk points on things you can easily get in game... e.g. the perk that prevents lockpicks from breaking, or the perk that allows you to recover more arrows. Both these items can easily and cheaply be purchased from vendors, so don't waste you LIMITED perk points in these areas... rather save them for things that will make your character better in battle/crafting etc.

- DragonBones are used for Heavy Dragon Armor... DragonScales are used for Light Dragon Armor.

- If you're using a unqiue "named" item for a quest objective... once the quest is completed be sure to check where you left/used that item... you might be able to retrieve it. I did this with the Wuuthrad Axe (?) used in the Companions quest line. Use it to activate a door, but grab it when leaving the dungeon.

Funny thing is, I started to complete all the special jobs and before I could complete the last one and I had gone from 65k to 110k so I didn't need those vendors with the extra cash at all :(

Now I just need to raise my bounty in all holds and I've pretty much finished the game
