The tackling thing has almost been blown out of proportion in a way, including by myself. Yes we're poor at tackling, and it is a serious issue both short and long-term for us, because I think it's as important a part of the game as literally anything, and I don't think it's an ability you can just make a player have, so I don't know where a lot of our players go from here.

But just as bad, in my opinion, is our overall pressure and defensive intent. When a Swans player gets the ball, more often than not they are swarmed by multiple opposition players; mistakes made by our players in general play are pounced on the second they happen. That's because the opposition's pressure is usually at a high standard. But when the opposition get the ball, they seem to always have all the time & space in the world; mistakes they make aren't punished, because they always have the time & space to steady and correct. That's because our pressure, our manning up, our defensive running, is so poor.

So I completely share the frustration over our tackling and am glad even the likes of Paul Roos and Gerard Healy are starting to call it out. But the micro-focusing on our tackling has almost let the team off the hook for the other off-the-ball stuff they're just as bad in.
DAMN RIGHT >>> That's because our pressure, our manning up, our defensive running, is so poor.

Eye test says Jake Lloyd is slowing us down and missing targets

Stats test backs this up and says he is playing some of the worst footy of his life

To back my point up in the stats department his 4 game stretch of 9.6 player rating points in total is the worst 4 game stretch of his career, and the next worst is 2015 where he played in a game of -2.8 player ratings (his worst game of his senior career) but still over the 4 game span had a player rating total of 14.4.
He really is exhibit A in the "we've gone backwards" case - such a damaging contributor last year, this year, as you say, one of the major contributors to our stagnant turnover footy. If there were anyone available in the VFL, you feel like he'd be the first one dropped.

I feel like the club see Lloyd as a lock in the best 22

Don't know if we can tell that or not because there is literally no-one else to bring up atm
Lloyd really lacks a flat, penetrative kick. But he brings gut running and experience to the wing he plays on. This is more evident when seen live. Given we have no choice but to play him, I think he should play a more defensive game, pushing back into D50 to help. Over the years he has shown he's a competent defender. Then we transition more via the left side of the field, just like when Errol is there. For that, we need a more penetrative kick than McInerney or Corey, which means moving either Blakey or Bice there.

He could be serviceable in defence when he was 25. He is going on 32 now and has lost that acceleration and physicality out of his game. He is either on the wing or out of the side. We are in 2025 not 2019

Lloyd used to have to do short passes to the pointer who didn't want to get it himself

True I have nothing but guess work , but still doubt they'd drop him even if everyone was fit
