whats the point of an appendix anyway?

It's was nice to hear Dr Larkins state that Sloane should be good to go for the final.

Sounds like it didn't burst and said that he should start to feel as good as gold after 4-5 days provided there's no infection etc.

Exactly!

If you just take them out and are A-ok what's the point of them?

They're like wisdom teeth. Or pickles in McDonald's burgers.

Pickles are an important part to a burgers composition.

I think they found out a few years ago what they actually did.

Something about containing good stomach bacteria that is used to reboot the digestive system, but the thought is that because the food we eat is better prepared and far more hygienic the appendix is now redundant and not needed.

I heard Sloaney had a gut pain so he cut out his appendix with a rusty butter knife, tied up the colon with a piece of barbed wire and used an industrial stapler to close the wound cauterizing it with gunpowder from a 12 gauge shotgun shell like Rambo did....but without the scream. He then proceeded to go for a 10K run before a weight session.
He'll Play!

There's actually 2 different issues to consider:
1. Will Sloane make it in time to recover prior to the first bounce of QF? The answer is a high probable.

2. During the few days off needed to recover, will Sloane be able to run smoothly and to get the touch fitness needed to play a QF? This is the main question the coaching staff needs to address. What point is a midfielder if he can only play 50% TOG?
People keep comparing Sloane's case to Betts', but these are different types of players. Eddie just needs to lurk around goals and doesn't need to run marathons....whereas Sloane does need to run marathons in a typical game!

I'm still backing him in...4 days to recover post-op, 4 days to regain fitness, and then play on the 9th day! Come on Rory, you can do it!![/QUOTE]

So has he re-signed? Surely any club worth its salt would have signed him up while under aesthetic.
What have his good looks have to do with it?

In regards to the pickles comment - i was going to hit the report button, but i didn't.

How dare you say such things. I have never created a thread, but I am bloody close to making one with a poll. This is how serious this comment is.

(But i still love you, with or without pickles)

I made a response stating my opinion that it's 50/50 on Sloane in 9 days. The problem is that it depends on who you ask, they're likely to give different responses. For examples:
1. The surgeons who did Sloane's appendix removal: 3-4 weeks (fear of medico-legal issues)
2. The doctors who don't understand footy or footballer's rate of recovery: 2-3 weeks (needs time to heal, wound healing, stitches removal blah blah)
3. The doctors who understand footy and understand who Sloane is: 1-2 weeks (Sloane's a freak, he's got a good chance!)
4. Don Pyke: Sloaney, we want you back in training, starting with handballing against the hospital walls, and doing light jogs while attached to the IV drip. You can do it!!

I know a Cleveland Brown had his appendix removed and played that Sunday. Of course, we are talking about the Browns, so how hard did he really need to play.
