Does anyone now why this Joel Smouha kid wasn't drafted? He was talked up a lot prior to the draft and seemed a certainty to get picked up.

I reckon we seriously need to look closely at taking him with our first rookie pick. Low risk for possible huge returns.

Is a 196cm tweener that is too small for ruck and too slow for KPP, wreaks of Kepler Bradley....I think he is too young to rookie or PSD anyway.

How is that any different to every other potential rookie listed player?

If anything, it's more of a risk to take someone like Smouha and try to convert an athlete into a footballer than selecting someone like McGinnity who is a footballer.

The only game i saw of McGinnity was against Vic Metro in the champs where he tagged out Cotchin. Is he a genuine tagger or was that a one off game for him? I'd like a good tagger in our team

Jackson, Anderson, Walker, Russell, Armfield, Browne (although will be more of an attacking small defender in time), have those bases covered now, McGinnity would be surplus and no real weapons of his own.

IMO Russell has had mixed results, as has Walker (and personally i think walkers done a better job playing as a small defender on a forward as opposed to shutting down a quality midfielder), and I see Anderson and Browne (havn't seen Browne, just from what i've heard) as small defenders as opposed to taggers shutting down mids. Jackson is still untried IMO, had a great game against Harvey this year, but other than that hasn't had enough opportunities in the AFL, and i can't comment on Armfield as Ive never seen him

So IMO the only bloke I can see who has the ability to be a quality tagger is Jackson. And im hoping he'll be good enough where he won't need to tag. I want a genuine, full-time tagger - ala Brady Rawlings

EDIT: also I still wanna know, was McGinnity a full-time tagger or just every now and then?

 What the hell?? Are you taking the piss?

1st in the 3km time trial and 2nd in the beep test after Morton with 15.1.

Comparisons with Bradley and Cloke are so far of the mark they aren't funny.

Are we talking about the same bloke?

Yes we are....extremely raw, fair enough a good tank, but too short for Ruck and too slow for KPP....obviously didn't get drafted...think we are the ones on the money....16 clubs agree with us.

Regards

Appreciate the points made and yes he does sound like an athlete more so than a footballer. I was just suprised by the large amount fo pre-draft publicity he got and then he didn't even get picked up.

Just so i am clear, can anyone explain how someone can be old enough to be selected in the National Draft, but too young to be taken in the PSD or Rookie Drafts? I thought they all had the same minimum age requirements.

I'm talking about the fact someone thought he tested "terribly" at DC. That was nonsense.

Regards.
