Looking at that data, the Sharks Dragons merger makes even less sense.

Would be the equivalent of merging the Demons and Warriors today.

He merged the clubs without any consultation, then the players of both teams were essentially made free agents and the newly merged Southern Dragons struggled to even get a team of 20 together by squad submission deadline.

Bizarre decision and we're all grateful a maniac like that is no longer in charge of this place.

My favourite part about looking back to the first couple of seasons is seeing that I’ve remained about the same in terms of post numbers. Difference is everyone posts 50+ now instead of 1-5 lol

Absolutely bloody not. I was fully against it. Once I got the co-captaincy I made the best of it and had to try and get the whole thing to work but when it was announced I was completely against it.

If anything they were our rivals and we didn’t get along much lol.

Looking back now, it was Frankston Rover who suggested it (for the Sharks). I posted that they should just fold and join the Dragons as a joke because no one actually thought it was a realistic option.

TFLUA posted saying it was the best thing for the league (and nothing more).

Here were a few sentiments from players lol:

No way, not joining those ****wits.

No way I'd go near those w***ers.

There was a lot less standing up to admin in those days because it was so new and less people posting.

FWIW too I actually met TFLUA-Tiger in real life about five years later. He admitted it was a mistake at the time and by then all water under the bridge and the Dragons were back as the sole entity at that stage.

Meanwhile the Las Vegas Bears had 1 and a half posters on average each week showing up. If only someone had the vision to present that said data at the time and ask the question as to HOW on earth is this the "best thing for the league".
