Socceroos squad finalised

Oar is staying in South Africa.

I doubt either of them would get a game anyway, so it doesn't really matter who's in the 23 man squad
Not exactly true. If you think about it, discounting goalies there are 20 players in the squad. On any given day there are 10 starters and 6 subs on the bench. That only leaves 4 guys who are not involved on match day. Then you take into account matchups and gameplan for a particular opponent and the whole squad could at some point be on the team sheet.

I'm not saying that everyone will play or that everyone will even make the bench but there is no doubt the whole squad is important.

Holman will surprise all.

I think he's just working with what he's got.

welll.... Hiddink worked with virtually the same players, bar Viduka and Aloisi.... and he did it with much more freedom and style than Pim, Pim is just a (seemingly) one dimensional coach

This applies generally, however, we're dealing with Pim here and we know that he does not embrace the "horses for courses" strategy (eg playing Scott McDonald as the lone striker).

Pim has a fixed set of plan and he won't deviate from it regardless of the situation.
So far this dedication has gotten him results (albeit ugly matches)

I don't know how he does it, but he gets results even though we get dominated more often than not.

I think this is spot on. Simon Hill made an interesting comment the other night....words to the effect that the socceroos have almost forgotten how to lose. In the context of international football we should not forget what an achievement that is....I'll take an ugly win over a beautiful loss any day thanks.

I think this is a slight reconstruction of history.

Shat me when Verbeeks reasoning for not selecting Scotty Mac was his inflexbility - coming from the manager who will not change his system. McDonald is the only Australian forward who has regularly been scoring in the last few years, in both the SPL and the champions league. Im not sure if he ever played as part of a two man strike force, which is how his style works. Maybe if playing two up front was ever tried we may've seen more from him! He'd at least be a handy bench option should we need to get a goal back
