My fingers are still crossed for Sellar, hoping and hoping that a magicall rocket fires itself up his ass to let him know he's an athletic 6'6 unit.....but i'm waiting for that.

I've got a man crush on Rendell.

Plus Davis probably an IQ of th charts. Near perfect score in matric and already knows crows gameplan100%. (Probably better than Craigy)

He gave me more info on individual players if anyone is interested.
- Rated Sidebottom highly;
- Didnt rate Mitch Robinson highly because he is a 'nut case'

umm......
- Yarran is not even close to Rioli. (my feeling is if rioli wanted to come to the crows, we would have drafted him ahead of Danger. They loved Cyril)

Any others drafted by other clubs, high, that realy suprised them

They arent surprised by much with regards to top 15. They know whats going on.

Cant remember any from last years draft.
Blease they liked alot.
From the year before, they didnt like palmer said he is a knob.

If you want to ask about any specific player let me know. At the moment i cant remeber them all.

Shoenmaker they were surprised how high he went. And McKernan how low.

Spoke to a recruiter from within the crows on the weekend and gained some interesting facts from him:

- Only 3 pics to be used this years draft, unlikely to gain any good talls outside top 5 pics; Thats why we recruited so many talls last year;
- McKernan and Davis will play both Forward and Back in future;
- Moran should be playing up forward for the crows. Too good not to be in our 22.
- Next year 9 out of first 25 pics will be to GC. Therefore not much available to other clubs.
- Davis will be gun. Just needs to play out the year Norths (grow in his body) do a preseason) and then should play for crows next year.
- McKernan will play for crows this year - will be Gun wherever he plays. Super competitive and great athletic ability. Was in our top 8. Cant understand why he wasnt picked till 28.
- Watts, Davis, Hartlett, Johnstone were our top 4.
- Schoenmaker not in our top 15 (not competitive enough).
- Trengrove on ability top 5, but docs said his knee issues were similar to some player from Hawthorn ( i think Beau Muston) just too dangerous to use our first 3 pics on him, but would have used our 4th or 5th pics. Port were the only ones apparently with the balls to pick him up.
- Jordan Lisle too similar to McGregor, has no agility;
- Thinks the club shouldnt have taken sellar so early.

Told me other stuff but can remember just now.
Thoughts?

Wow, this is awesome :thumbsu: Thanks for posting it!

Hartlett was third hey... so Rendell wasn't lying when he said he'd take Davis before Hartlett ;) Johnstone fourth, interesting.

Moran in our best 22, hey? I have to say, I keep having a memory of him kicking four goals in a match last year and wondering why we didn't even try him up forward in the preseason. He's not good at sticking to a man, so why not take him out of defence and put him up there.

Lisle with no agility would explain him dropping out to pick 50 or whatever it was.

Does seem like you got a bit of "company lines" though, Davis and McKernan awesome, McKernan will play this year, they will both play both ends, Sellar has been disappointing, these are all things we've heard the club say at times - but I'll believe it because generally I reckon the Crows tell us what they actually think anyway.

I'm fishing here... but did he say anything about Sloaney? :p

Edit: WALL-e, what I like about Davis is that he seems like a 185cm player with a 195cm body. He's got a great, intelligent kick, he's got the athletic prowess of a smaller guy and does a lot of running, but then he has the advantage of being tall enough to help him with good spoils and marks. Far sight from the tall players we've picked who have played like 205cm players in smaller bodies.

I have posted a few other comments within this thread about other things he told me.(Check them out)
Sloaney will become like the tagger from hawthorn he said. i think his name is sewell. He said Matt Rendell is in love with him.
Also McKernan will be like a Goodes type player.

I must admit this is the same bloke who i asked before the draft last year whether the crows were interested in Johnstone and Davis, he said we have a few 'other players' ahead of those 2.

He told me on the weekend that he couldnt reveal just 'how' interested they were in them in case it got out.

My thoughts on a few of the points in bold

- Only 3 pics to be used this years draft, unlikely to gain any good talls outside top 5 pics; Thats why we recruited so many talls last year; - Not surprising at all
- McKernan and Davis will play both Forward and Back in future; - Also not surprising and good news imo
- Moran should be playing up forward for the crows. Too good not to be in our 22. - I totally agree

- McKernan will play for crows this year - will be Gun wherever he plays. Super competitive and great athletic ability. Was in our top 8. Cant understand why he wasnt picked till 28. - Decision making & the junior ruckman/AFL KPP dilemma I guess, but I'm glad we had the balls, especially at pick 28
- Watts, Davis, Hartlett, Johnstone were our top 4. - Definitely wouldn't have been mine, especially Johnston, but they watch a heck of a lot more than me
- Schoenmaker not in our top 15 (not competitive enough) - awesome athlete, not an amazing footballer in terms of attack on the ball, interesting to see if Hawthorn can get it out of him as a defender, didn't like the move at first, but could work. I can imagine a scenario where he learns his craft as a defender and then is moved back to the forward lines later in his career

Just a comment/question on the McKernon thing. How much did his brother's career affect his slipping to pick 28? I can't believe he fell to there to be honest! Can't also believe North overlooked him a pick earlier! His brother was sensational early in his career, and could have won a Brownlow if not for being ineligible, but faded later in his career. Perhaps was played out of position. I think Shaun's stats from physical testing are even more impressive than his brothers. The point I am getting at is we may have a gun of Brownlow type potential here, but we may need careful on going management so that he is always played in the right position and so that we get the most out of him. Maybe he will be an early bloomer and so we shouldn't waste too much time getting him on the park, as we will have plenty who will blossom later!

Here we go another Sellar thread. Please no. Hasnt he been listed on extended interchange a couple of times this year, so the crows must think he is getting there. One bad game and the knives come out. Leave it till the end of season. If he plays the majority of games this year and pushes for AFL selection I will be happy. So far he has done this.

Sellar was an emergency for one game, against Fremantle, and that was only because he was a last resort as an emergency key defender - Bock was suspended, Stevens was returning from a hamstring complaint and Rutten was rumoured to be struggling with a niggle of some kind.

FWIW, with only 3 picks this year, I currently see these players as being in the mind of the executioner:

Shirley - Fell behind Cook before the season started, and so far has struggled to make his game more than one dimensional
Hentschel - Made the fairy tale come back, but it ended rather quickly. Not sure he has recovered enough ability, or is able to remain injury free for long enough to warrant keeping him ahead of the other 10 current and potential KPF's on our list (Gill, Moran, Tippett, Walker, Davis, Stevens, Sellar, Lee, McKernan, Young)

- Watts, Davis, Hartlett, Johnstone were our top 4. -

that contradicts his previous statement of nick nat being right at the top of the list (ie he would pick nick nat at #1 if he was a wa team)

some sensational insight here faith

For the record I was told Watts and Nat' were stratospheres infront of everyone and if we had pick 3 we would of taken Davis. They loved Hartlett but said we couldnt give up the oppurtunity to get a KPP who is home grown and the quality of Davis. I was also told he would of taken Johnson at pick 10 if Davis wasnt available

Those 2 were the best 2 players in the draft, but Nic Nat had major go home issues. Therefore wasnt included in our list.

I know for a fact that the player North picked at 27 was rated very highly by the crows. That player i think his name is wright, was the next player on our hit list after McK, so if Mck was picked by North at 27 we would have taken the guy North picked up at 27.

Say anything about Jacky, his ideal possy, if he's what they wanted etc?

Got some info on Jacky last night.
Jacky is a midfielder who can kick goals. Knew he would take a bit longer as he is not as sure of himself as others. Confidence was always going to be an issue. Expected to be a later developer in the Stokes, Davey's x 2 mould but he is playing good consistent footy but still not 100% about himself.

He's still allergic to goals though.

He's kicked 4 goals in 2 weeks. I can't comment on the goals he kicked last week but the week before against Glenelg his 2 goals were very opportunistic and one was a quick snap out of a pack situation from about 35 out. The other he was in the right spot, received a handball and banged it through. His set shots aren't great yet but he's improving.
