With all the excitement brought about by the first-up hit-outs of our youngsters - most notably Hill and DeBoer - I think we have almost forgotten to purple-rain some Kepple-love down upon the Big Fella.

He wasn't totally forgotten in last night's wash-up - he was mentioned by a few, but IMO was in our best 5 and will prove to be the best and most inspired #69 draft pick of all time...

199cm, 100kg, 23 year old with 60 games experience - he can play almost anywhere from the centre square forward to the goal square and give a very good account of himself.

Essendon's loss is our gain, and while his style might be unorthodox, it is effective! I am looking forward to many, many games from the big unco lug in the mighty purple!

We loves ya Kep! :thumbsu:

You are absolutely right, I meant to mention this myself! That passage of play that finished in the 9 pointer to Browne was poetry, the little shimmy inside and the 30 Metre handball to perfection. The boy looks weird but he can play!

Kepler was sensational. How was that goal he kicked, reflexes of a cat. A friend a the game made the comment that we started winning again when he went back into the ruck.

You know with all the (well deserved) Richo HJ's being handed out, its worth noting that the passage of play you just mentioned started because Kep & Richo went up for a loose ball, and only Kepler gave it a 2nd effort and ran away with it. It was a super passage of play from him.

Like Sheedy said, you don't throw a player away, with his height, with his speed and his age.

I have got Kepler Fever badly.

Bit rich from Sheedy, he almost destroyed his career playing him as a backman for the entire 2006 season.

I'm glad to see Keplar is playing well, good luck for the rest of the season boys.

I have to agree, he did pretty well for Freo last night.
I didn't mind him at Essendon, he did get cricified by Sheedy playing him out of position, I would have love to start him on a HFF and let him use his agility between half back and a forward pocket as a link up player.
Best of luck to him for the future too.

Cheers for the nice posts Bombers fans. I think you guys are in for an exciting year if you can keep all your speed machines and the likes of Dempsey, Gumby on the park.

Unlike some others, I can admit when I have made a mistake...

I thought picking up Kep was a huge mistake - in fact, I thought picking up Mark Johnson was the huger mistake, Kep I though might be able to offer something, but I wasn't convinced.

Now I am - and I love him... :thumbsu:

Give me another helping of that humble pie!

My, my you are out to get me, aren't you? :D Perhaps your dish of choice should be one of sour grapes... ;)

He seems to get better with each game, his decision making and kicking have improved out of sight.

I'd still like him to take a few more grabs, but I wish that of Sandilands as well.

It seems nobody's commented on his ruckwork... I reckon it's improved a shirtload. He won quite a few taps with authority and nailed it straight at one of our guys.

Have a look at his handball to Browne before the Dealer strolled in and nailed that super goal. He passed it over his head while he was running with the flight and it landed perfectly in his lap. Not many players can pull that off, let alone big unco blokes.

I don't post much but I have always made the effort to champion Kepler. I was sorry when he went to the bombers and happy when He came to us. I was always on Crowls side and very nervous when He was delisted so my pet players have been good so far. I may however have to wait and see how my last "hunch" works out because it was ans is.......Farren Ray:o

lol good luck with that one.....

as has been mentioned, kepler was played out of position at the bombers... however i have heard sheedy say that the only reason he continually played kepler as a backman was because he could not displace lloyd and lucas.... and that he felt kepler always had a future as a forward/wingman..... im glad that freo gave the accidental hero a chance because he is young, he gives his all, is fit and stumbles into goals, with our backup ruckman both being young and weighing 100kg's between them, we need kepler to play ruck, but i reckon he will nail a position even if he wasnt playing ruck... be it wing or HF, you just have to have him in the side :thumbsu: i think kepler and the warnock/suban/hall deals are going to be two of the few deals we can say that we clearly won out on... (note: both were done in the mark harvey regime)

Alot of essendon/ freo love, Must be cause you take all their reject players ;)

I did however think kepler played really well in the ruck towards the end of last year. Any Supercoach value in the big utility?

oreilly/ackland/bannister/corey mcgrath/french/morrell/pffeifer/harford...... the list is long and undistinguished for carlton... i wouldnt bring up taking rejects... :D

kepler is a good player to have as a forward as he plays both ruck and forward, and somehow manages to kick goals
