the grand master plan to start the trade period with picks 16, 39 and 42, and end with picks 14 and 16 (next pick at 65). all for the low low price of adam treloar, jaiden stevensen, tom phillips and atu bosenavulagi.

they've paid 4 players (3 best 22) and a 3rd round pick to upgrade a single 2nd round pick to a single 1st round one. fmd.

How was the cap mismanaged so badly that they had to shift 4 players, 3 arguably best 22?

It's baffling.

Scenarios I imagine:

Scenario a)

Players had trigger clauses in contracts for bonuses/extensions that they all met unexpectedly. This would be a failure of risk management

Scenario b)

They deliberately over offered players beyond 2020 thinking that they would offload some by mutual agreement. This is a failure of player management

Scenario c)

They didn't process the payment totals correctly. This would be a complete failure of contract management.

Scenario d)

They over-offered players to stay as a method of narrative management, expecting them to depart anyway. This is also a failure of risk management.

All together it's just insane

I have felt so sorry for Adam all through this...it must've been terrible for him to be told he wasn't liked etc...

..I've imagined myself in my job that I loved before I retired. Had my boss, who I had huge respect for, phoned me and said I was to be moved on because I wasn't liked by my work collegues.....well my god, I'd have been devastated and humiliated. I haven't and don't have mental health issues, but that would have really upset me...

Anyone out there who is happy in their job, gets on well with workmates etc just think for a minute how you would feel.

...so those in charge at Collingwood who have put Adam through this, should hang their heads in shame......and then hand in their resignation.

If he can get away with blatant racism, joking about Adam Goods playing King Kong, this is not going to end him.

The AFL boys club is one of the most insular protected industries in existence. When criminals like Dane Swan, Leigh Mathews and Wayne Carey are idolised by the AFL and their media colleagues, a racist narcissist like McQuire has nothing to worry about.

It will only get worse from here - especially after they dragged Treloar's partner into it, and blamed her getting a job interstate for 10 months, for Treloar having to go. Absolute PR nightmare.

King hit at least a dozen players when he was getting beaten, always from behind. He'd be in prison if he did it today. It wasn't just the era, he should be remembered as the cowardly thug that he was.

People only talk about the Bruns one like it was a one-off. He made a career out of it.

And Dane Swan - one of the shittest blokes of all time. Bashed a cleaner at Fed Square for fun leaving him permanently disabled, and has refused to pay the compo that the court ordered him to pay. Google it if you don't believe it. But the media are going "how good a bloke is Swannie!!"

On field, inconsistent but if Pert has done anything to hamper the performance or culture of our FD and playing group it's news to me.

He's done absolutely nothing off-field. He inherited the financial position from Peter Jackson that has got them through Covid. There is no future plan at all that he has put forward regarding a football home, and he has largely kept the exact same people in place. There is no vision no inspiration, no plan.

The team on-feild has been an unmitigated disaster since Jackson left. It may not be his fault, but he can hardly be praised for sitting idle at his desk for two years.

And he signed the second worst coach in the history of the AFL to an extension when it was clear that he was well out of his depth.

Pert has been a disaster for Melbourne.

I reckon he would have more dirt on Eddie than anyone which is why he appears untouchable.

We made finals in Pert's first year. Just missed out in his 3rd. Hardly an unmitigated disaster.

You asked a question and got an answer you couldn't argue against. What's the point in even asking if you're just going to put it all down to Jackson? Dumb.

From an FD POV we've added and retained Burgess, a world class fitness trainer and Yze (well regarded) added to our coaching team. But hey that's "nothing". Goodwin is under the pump in 2021 but he at least deserved a proper chance.

We also pissed off the stupid Darwin games as well. Another home game at the MCG.

Clearly you dont like him and that's fine.
