Something is on the nose...and it's Collingwood

It's not them being ruthless which is the issue, it's them being lying manipulative scumbags. To the players and to the public.
To the public? Lol

Everyone wants clubs to be ruthless

Collingwood go ruthless and now everyone is pissed off with them

Funny that

I don't think many people has a problem with a club being ruthless, but it's how Collingwood handled the situation which is getting the critism.

I put my hand hand up and admit I make fun of Treloar and his "better list" comments, but there is no doubt that once he was through the doors at Collingwood he was 100% commited to them and put his heart and soul to the place.

I feel sorry for the guy with how Collingwood were jerking him about. Firstly lying about the reason of wanting him to leave is for his "own good", like he's a child, to be with his partner at GC (yet they ended up trading him to another Victorian club) and also Buckley lying about the other players not wanting him to be there.

Even the Stephenson situation isn't that great.

Being Ruthless is one thing, but being honest with players is another.

Even on the ruthless side of things Collingwood messed up. The idea of being ruthless is for the club to gain something in the end. What Collingwood did was effectively traded out 3 first round picks (two first rnd picks they traded for Treloar and the pick 6 they used for Stephenson) only for a pick 14 in this draft. You can tell that even Ned Guy didn't believe his own spin with his interview after the trade period.

I don’t know if Collingwood supporters are aware of this but an online petition for forcing Eddie and your board to answer questions about the current debacle, is on! About 800 people have already signed it, I think the endorsement of 100 members is enough to force a meeting. For those who are interested, you will need your member number- just type it in the comment/response window.

https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/collingwoodfc-hold-the-president-coach-and-board

There is a thread about the petition on Nick’s Collingwood as well!

Now, I know I am a Richmond supporter etc, but since so many of you are clearly-and justifiably- outraged with those leading your club, especially with El Presidente, General Eduardo McGuirente de Collingwoodia, you may want to do something about it, instead of just whinging and moaning!

As an Eagles fan often referred tp a franchise, I'm happy to smile about the club model from the 1900s ..... all clubs make blues, its their inner strength to bounce back that most want, & the Pies have it in spades.

Atu Bosenavulagi is related to Joffa who is a great bloke and i thought he showed some nice signs during the year, he does not fit the salary dump scenario at all and his omission shocked me the most. Ned Guy was hung out to dry while the silence and lack of communication was poor, as a bulldog supporter i am used to seeing the champions leave, but not for so little in return.

Weird how when this happens to Collingwood everyone is interested. If this situation happened at any other club, doubt anyone would care, I personally don't think about other clubs situations at all.
NMFC would beg to differ. Welcome to the world of media hate, justified or not.

‘The level of scrutiny your club is undergoing has been par for the course for an average 2020 week for us.

I disagree. They were one difficult kick away from winning a flag. The culture looked to be great in 2018 and the players were really playing for Buckley.

Something has gone seriously wrong since then though.
I agree with this, they had really touched upon something tangible that season, & didn’t lose any respect with their performance on the big day either.....But this has the real possibility of ripping the soul out of that club, because they started to talk about investing in each other’s vulnerabilities, & moving forward together....Right now you would have to say that was all talk, especially for Treloar because he was actually so open about his struggles....It might well turn out the be an Adelaide camp scenario, time will tell, but either way next year will be so fascinating.

The pity party for these guys is a bit extreme. If they truly wanted to stick it up the Club they could refuse to be traded for a year.

Stephenson loose cannon and is clearly not the sharpest tool.

Treloar is the big one and is strange. He is still one of their better players but they must have figured he would have best trade currency. They just screwed up his exit.
Gee whiz.
You can't get it more wrong. Treloar is the dim one, and future prospects are also dimmer given returning soft tissue he has reached his peak and is not what you think he is as a player.

Stephenson is a highly intelligent immature kid, with more potential than Treloar to be a special player. That Collinwood can't work with the kid to get him fully focussed, they are ****ed up. Pendleberries should have done a Cotchin Martin, but nah, he's an ex basketballer good player shiite captain. BucketBongs is on the spectrum, does his best to mimic compassion and empathy but easily seen through. The club is not directed well enough, thats what happens when its run by a passionate amateur hobby horser with a midnight eating problem.

Collingwood tried to emulate Richmond after watching our success in 2017. The whole empathy and openness thing was their mantra and it worked for about 18 months however it wasn’t who they really are. You can only fake it for so long before your true self comes to the surface, we are now seeing the true Collingwood led by Eddie and Bucks.

The response from the top end of Collingwood will be fascinating, because the fish rots from the head & it’s clear the true Pies supporters ( not the bandwagoner’s ) are really angry atm....From everything I have read the club’s next AGM will be overflowing with members demanding answers, Eddie has done a lot of talking about other clubs, but now is when he really needs to do the talking.

They are probably lucky their next AGM will be via zoom as it might have got ugly.

Eddies gone to ground

It's just the mantle of being the biggest club. People just cut us down any chance they get because it makes them feel good and secure about themselves to go after 'the big guy'. Really weird phenomenon.

Well, if that makes you feel better about the situation go for it. The Pies make themselves a target by having a President with an opinion on everything, plus a playing group that constantly misbehaves and now the worst trade period, possibly of all time. Unless you count Stephen O'Reilly or Buddy Franklin after effects.

It is called denial. Collingwood supporters are finding this hard to believe and accept.

it was pretty ordinary, i think you would have to agree with that. How do you feel about it?
Because we don't have a pre-existing affinity for Buckley, Eddie and all things Collingwood. Treloar on the other hand is quite likeable.
Because you guys are blinded by your faith and are hypocrites when it comes to the supposed "side by side" mantra?

I guess "side by side we stick together to uphold the magpie name unless you have mental health issues, your wife is moving away, or are costing too much money despite what we agreed to" is a bit tough to fit into a song and a mantra.

I've completely accepted it, can see the reasons for it, and how it can make us a better side in 2021.

I don't feel like I'm "owed an explanation", and there's not some collective group-think among the supporters, either. I'm an adult who is capable of forming my own opinions and conclusions.

I still don't get problem and puzzlement I have is with non-Collingwood media people and non-Collingwood fans so desperately wanting answers and some sort of admission of "guilt", and for the Pies to be "held to account" for their "crime". Like, why not just enjoy the Pies supposed "failure", or just be indifferent (if you're not directly affected), and move on? I know the tabloid AFL media has to fashion and survive on "scandal", but how does this negatively affect the average non-Collingwood supporter?

It seems pretty straight forward.

Pies cooked the books and got caught out, therefore had to sell off contracted players to balance things out immediately. The fact they've tried to spin it publicly as 'getting back into the draft' is just to avoid admitting that they cheated the cap.

Or they could have just miscalculated, without any attempted cover-up. Mistakes happen, some unforseen things happen, and so on.

Why does everyone instantly assume everything in the AFL is some organised crime style deception?

Hard to express why.

Its like 4 of your semi-mates down the road being shat on in the most horrendous way.

And as fellow human being, standing up and saying this ain't right, someone needs to pay for this.

Come on now, it's not that serious.

I hope you're as moralistic and such a human rights activist outside of professional athletes getting traded to another team too.

pretty much a cowards act, for someone who has a lot to say about other clubs and the AFL
it does come across cowardly if Bucks and Eddie are still bunkered down. The opposite of leadership.

Perhaps they are waiting till this thread falls off the front page as a sign the passion has subsided...or is it just taking a while to get their stories straight about who said what to who?

I didn't say that. There does seem to be a much higher volume of non-Collingwood people upset about this than Collingwood fans, though.
If you say so...perhaps its because theyre not biased in their view.
Also, the “big four” clubs have alot more rusted on members than others but thats changing.
If you take the emotion outve it I can see alotve similarities between Trump and Mcguire in the way they tell theyre supporters what to think, people fall inline cause they know its his way or the highway.
Have an objective look at some of the big decisions since Mcguire landed the job.
Malthouse
Buckley moving on players and changing game game style. That team was capable of winning more flags.
Heath Shaw
Harry O
Balme

you could go on.

He’s strengthened the club in alotve ways but it hasnt brought about flags.
Have a look at the premiership tally for the last 80 yrs
Carlton have been ordinairy for 12-15 still dbled what you’ve won
Tigers didnt win a flag for 37, both those clubs have doubled what you have.
Its supporters and members who are happy with
“We are the biggest club” “We are the most successful club” that keep them.
And the thing is your not either of those two things, it’s just thats what you’ve been told to believe
