There's a lot of speculation about us trading for draft selections. In particular, what we can expect to get in return for Skippy.

It is worth remembering that you cannot pass on any draft picks you gain as the result of a trade. If we trade for a 4th round selection, then we have to make at least 4 draft selections (and hence would need to delist at least one more player).

If we got the Kangaroos 4th rounder we would basically be upgrading our picks to the following:

14, 32, 48, 53

Which means our 4th rounder would be 11 spots higher, which is good in this draft.

So I have no doubt that we will use the pick we receive from them.

See ya Hingey.

But we can on trade the pick or use any of our other picks in a trade.

It's no great drama - if Skipworth is traded for a 4th round pick, Clarke, Hart and Skippy are all out, so one more goes.

It's not as bad as when we traded Chad Rintoul to the Eagles for a 6th rounder - because we had 2 picks for Modra early in the draft, we had to delist another 6 (from memory).

North's 4th Rounder isn't much of a problem.

There are some North fans who seem reluctant to part with anything before their 5th rounder (realistically far too low a price for Skippy), which would mean getting rid of 2 more players.

If we can somehow sucker someone into taking Jericho off our hands, for say a 3rd rounder, then we'd be looking at more players again.

At this stage it's not a concern. I'd like to see us taking a minimum of 5 draftees this year anyway, not overly fussed if it's a 5-0 or 4-1 split between the ND & PSD. It IS something to take into consideration, that's all.
