I actually think the riff from Bohemian Like You sounds more like Jumpin Jack Flash than it does Brown Sugar.
Can't put it any better than this-

"I wear my influences like a f***ing badge," proclaims lead singer-songwriter Courtney Taylor regarding Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia. But while the Dandy Warhols liberally steal Rolling Stones riffs, Iggy Pop vocals, Britpop sonic surfing, and even Burt Bacharach horn sections, they give it back in spades, delivering one of the best rock albums of 2000: a masterpiece of sex, beauty, strife, and wry, raunchy-cool attitude. --Beth Massa

The Stones took The Verve's Bittersweet Symphony for some cash. Never worried the Dandies even with the admission by Taylor. Surprising.

Don't know if it has been done (not going to go through 10 pages)...

RHCP - Around the world (at the start) sounds very similar to Breadfan by Metallica and originally by Budgie

And also this one....

I always thought that " twist and shout" and that Mexican song la chacrumba or something were exatly the same song. I'm sure someone knows what I am on about. I was listening to a shuffle the other day and noticed an eerie similarity between radioheads "where I end and you begin and muses "map of the problematique"

it's not blatant, like beatles one, but it is difinately there.

Kanye West - Runaway

Linkin Park - Waiting for the End

Just the piano tune to both songs.

Heres a couple more.....

A bit of a different angle but there are a heap of Ink Spots songs with the same guitar intro. The clip for 'Maybe'......:confused:

when the song kicks in at 23 second sounds a bit like the riff from ACDC Hells Bells

Green Day should feature more prominently in this topic now that you mention it:

- "Warning" - complete, shameless rip-off of "Picture Book" by the Kinks
- "Waiting" - a minor rip-off of Downtown by Petula Clark

Yep that would be one of my major selections. Others have already been mentioned. "Whole Lotta Love" is often nominated but vocally "You Need Loving" by the Small Faces is where that was taken from far more than Muddy Waters' version.

Some others that come to mind:

- That appalling Jet song (mind you that's most of them) that I simply call "Sexy Sadie" as it's virtually the same as the Beatles song.
- "I'm Too Sexy" by whover it was has a section that is EXACTLY the same as the main riff from "Third Stone From the Sun" by Jimi Hendrix.
- "In My Time of Dying" by Zeppelin was actually copied/covered from the very same song on Bob Dylan's first album. Not sure who the original belonged to.
- "I Don't Know What I Want" by the Rasperries has the same intro as "Won't Get Fooled Again" by the Who. Interestingly, they managed to fit in something very similar to "I'm a Boy" in the middle eight.
- "(Hat's off to) Roy Harper" by Led Zeppelin is basically "Shake 'em on Down" by Bukka White.

Discovered this one the other day.

The opening riff from 'Moon Child' by Rory Gallagher (1976) was blatantly ripped off by Iron Maiden in '2 Minutes to Midnight' (1984).

This is another example of a song being sampled without the proper recognition. I realise that this is not the point of the thread, but anyway.
Note: I am not having a go at Daft Punk, I just found this video very interesting.
I know all this is old but I think you'll find almost all of Daft Punks stuff are samples like that, especially on the Discovery album.

I always thought Jebediah ripped off Archers of Loaf pretty blatantly, with Mac McCaughanesque vocals, and doing it all rather poorly.

Anyway... this is one of the more blatant ones around. Christ I hate these cheesedicks... I don't think I would like to punch anyone more in Perth than these guys...

That's so obvious, Fat Black should take 'em for all their worth.

Paul and Ringo were probably too embarrassed to claim the original as theirs. Obladioblada is as awful as a cockroach, and I think the line was 'YEESH just DO SOMETHING WITH IT!'
Haha, I like Obla-di-Obla-da:eek:

A bit of a different angle but there are a heap of Ink Spots songs with the same guitar intro. The clip for 'Maybe'......
Yeah, I've got their best of, when I listened through it the first time I thought something was wrong, but half the tracks just use the same hook.

The John Lennon classic, Instant Karma. Excellent song. Rather well known.

Liam Gallagher's new band "Beady Eye" and their song The Roller.

Liam Gallagher stealing John Lennon songs? NO!

and

The lick at 0.51 in the peppers song, very similar.

(may have been posted not trawling through whole thread)
