the cutting guitar that drives this song was used in some nineties pop tune.
i had it figured at one stage but I've gone and forgotten.
If anyone else can hear it then i wouldn't mind knowing.

The Cardigans?

That terribly annoying lovefool song.

yeah thats it!
wow the singer is/was a fox.

I hadn't listened to Marquee Moon for years and years and the first time i did I heard exactly what you did.

And I agree with you about said singers foxyness but they have partly ruined one of my favourite all time albums.

*****.

The first song was what I heard on the radio this morning and I thought to myself "that sounds exactly like something I've already heard before". After a few seconds of thought I realised that the music sounds exactly the same with the second song.

Now, I realise that these songs are both from the same artist, but c'mon!!

Discovered this one the other day.

The opening riff from 'Moon Child' by Rory Gallagher (1976) was blatantly ripped off by Iron Maiden in '2 Minutes to Midnight' (1984).

You can add these two to that

There was another one involving them in '84 when Ray Parker Jr threatened to sue the arse off them for ripping off the movie Ghostbusters theme. I can't recall which song it was but I recall a stink about it at the time.

I think you might find that it was Huey Lewis claiming plagiarizm on Ray Parker Jr. for stealing the Ghostbusters theme from the melody for 'I want a New Drug'.

My memory tells me it was the other way around but you could be right. The melody lines weren't really similar anyway. It was more the rhythmic part of the songs. As it is you only have 13 notes to play with in music so after 20,000 years it's likely some things are going to sound the same.

Huey Lewis definitely sued Ray Parker Jnr.

And won.
