Guys I say bring him straight in and play him on a wing. Too much to ask for him to come in and play in a key defensive post but on a wing or even deep fwd could be an option.

My thoughts are if he is ready he is quality so bring him in. They say he is super fit so no point playing him in the VFL get the kid in.

I understand what you're suggesting but I think he needs to get 1 or 2 games under his belt in the twos to get a bit of match hardened first .

Totally agree, needs some match time first. Not really worth discussing anyway, no way would he be brought straight back in.

...Then again, I guess you could argue a lot of what we discuss is pointless, seeing as how our opinions have no effect on the outcome.

...wow, I've just had a BF revelation, I can now leave these boards finally

...nah I'll be back :o

Not even Nathan Buckley did that when he had missed so much footy. He should have, at the minimum, two weeks in the VFL before he can be considered for senior selection.

Just no point at all at bringing him in early.

I just think he will be better than the 22nd guy selected so why not pick him.

Maybe he could do a tagging job ??

I spoke to him at the game yesterday and he will play for the Ants the week of our break.

Is extremely keen to get back out there!

Yeah they also said Stevens was flying fit, been running for 12 months ever since his operation etc, just hadn't done any physical contact...then everybody said he looked fat, underdone and unfit.:o Play him in the twos

We all can't wait to see him back in the seniors, but there is NO way that we should bring Walks back in to the seniors this week.

He's coming off a very serious shoulder injury and it would be terrible to see him come back prematurely only to injure himself once again.

Let him come back through the Ants.

We thought Andrew was "super fit" when we played him in the practice game against the Bulldogs, and here we are today.

It's not worth the risk. Bring him back through the two's I say.:thumbsu:

Nathan Buckley was playing in the VFL because he needed to do a test run to check out his hamstring problem. If walker is fully recovered his injuries he should come straight back into the senior side.

You may be right. Even with his lack of match practice he's got more experience than a lot of young guys on the list.

He may even have a better game in his first game back than his first game of AFL football, that would be nice.

All depends on his confidence and the fitness staff.

By what I heard Jamo say the other week his shoulder is more of a risk than Tex's at the moment.

Maybe we should bring in Hartlett and Austin and give Jamo a rest/physio till after the break, also bring in Walker for Armfield.

I agree with you. He must be better than browne or wiggins, so interchange him like browne was on sunday, Im sure he will still do a better job than most of em done on Sunday :thumbsu: bring him straight in

As fit as he may be, there's a big difference between track fitness and match fitness. I guarantee you he'll be feeling it come the end of the match, and probably wouldn't be able to play more than a half/3 quarters of the match. Ease him in via the VFL - give him a half this weekend, play him for the majority next before he returns to the seniors round 15.

ratten has said that he'll play a few games in the 2s b4 he plays in the 1s.

I think we shuld use him as a forward to revitilise our forwards line.

Absolutely nothing to be gained by bringing his straight into the senior side. Apart from undermining others pushing for selection, he hasn't played a 'real' match since what...August last year? I am sure he would appreciate a week or two to get a few touches, pick up the pace of the game and get some confidence.

If we cannot get over Richmond (who will also be short a couple of first choice players) without AW, I don't think we really need concern ourselves with finals.
